I prefer backstabbing, showboating, media suck up. A Republican who publicly and harsly criticizes the president's foreign policy in the middle of an election campaign against a commie like John Kerry is beneath contempt.
Well said! And for that Nebraska Republicans should send this RINO clown packing. Tom Osborne for US Senate.
If that's the case, then the GOP should have disowned someone like William Kristol when he: 1) complained back in May that the Bush administration needed to send more troops to Iraq (something that was refuted by every public comment from the Defense Department at the time, and since then as well); and 2) suggested that he and his fellow "neo-conservatives" would consider voting for a Democrat if they thought it would help their agenda.
I didn't trust him even back then. But I didn't expect him to be such an opportunist.
Hagel and McCain know that the MSM need Republicans to appear on their shows, for 'balance'. But they certainly don't want to give any exposure to real Republicans. So they'll invite Hagel and McCain over and over again, to recite Democratic talking points, and make attacks on the administration, while at the same time seeming fair and balanced. And Hagel, with his presidential ambitions, is quite willing to sell out the rest of his party to further his own interests.
I have drawn my line in the sand for 2008; anybody who isn't supporting Bush and the troops this time does NOT get my vote.
Unfortunately, we won't get the chance. He's not up for re-election until 2008, and he's made it known he plans to run for President.
What is it with these folks who spent time in Nam and the complicit media? You take McCain, spent time in a prison over there and he's hailed as an expert on any thing to do with war or defense. Same thing with Hagel, he wants to be McCain, Jnr., the media, of course, love the both of them.
He will lose miserably!! Clobber him in the primaries and put Dr. Tom in his place.
Subject: Chuck Hagel, camera-hog
Chuck Hagel and the mainstream media have a symbiotic relationship. The major networks need to put a 'Republican' on camera to maintain the illusion they're fair and balanced; however, the last thing they want is a Republican who will defend the President or the core values of the Republican Party. Hagel needs national TV exposure to launch his presidential bid; and he'll happily oblige the networks by attacking the President. Of course, by playing the media's game, Chuck not only helps corrode the President's support, he also takes airtime away from other Republicans who might defend the administration and promote an authentic Republican agenda.
I, for one, was not fooled by today's apologia in the World-Herald. Hagel has the President's private ear any time he wants it. His public criticism of the President is self-serving and disloyal. This is one Republican will never again vote for Hagel; not for President, not for Senate; not even for dogcatcher.
Move away from the camera, Chuck, and let the spotlight shine on a real Republican!
Tom won't run against Chuck; unlike Hagel, Dr. Osborne understands, indeed exemplifies, the concept of loyalty.
Agreed! And Hagel tops my list.
