-- Republican businessman Doug Forrester, one of the state's several possible gubernatorial candidates, on Monday unveiled a media campaign pressing CBS to oust anchor Dan Rather.

Forrester's campaign is to be waged on radio, television and the Internet starting Tuesday. Advertisements have been submitted to air in the Philadelphia and New York markets for the next several weeks on the major networks as well as cable channels, including CNN.

CBS and Rather have been under fire for a reliance on apparently fake documents to suggest President Bush's National Guard service record was less than stellar.

"Dan Rather is a classic example of liberal media bias," state the advertisements. "It wasn't just sloppy journalism, it was political bias."

Forrester said he expects the media campaign will garner names for a petition drive to oust Rather on a new Web site called DanRatherMustGo.com.

"He needs to be held accountable for an egregious political piece, and I believe that CBS and America will be better if he retires," said Forrester

Earlier this morning in this thread listed below, Forrester has purchased commercial time on Rather's "CBS Evening News" and on New York and Philadelphia radio and television stations to call for Rather's retirement.

CBS, Kerry Campaign Hit With FEC Complaint GOPUSA/Talon News ^ | 9/27/04 | Jeff Gannon

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- The Center for Individual Freedom, a Virginia-based, constitutional advocacy group filed a complaint last week with the Federal Election Commission charging that CBS and Kerry-Edwards 2004, Inc. illegally coordinated election communications. The complaint charges that CBS and the Kerry campaign violated federal campaign finance laws when they colluded to attack President George W. Bush based on claims and documents now believed to be fake.

Jeffrey Mazzella, the Center's Executive Director, said in a press release, "It's obvious that CBS and the Kerry campaign acted improperly. That much is clear to anyone with a pulse."

Mazzella added, "But what's been lost is that CBS and its executives blatantly violated federal election laws when they overtly ignored basic journalistic ethical standards and coordinated with the Kerry campaign in order to run an attack story in an effort to affect the outcome of the November presidential election. Our complaint makes this very clear."

The complaint focuses on a September 8 segment on the CBS program "60 Minutes II." In the segment, CBS correspondent Dan Rather suggested that President Bush received preferential treatment to gain acceptance into the Texas Air National Guard and failed to fulfill his service obligation. CBS's charges relied on a number of documents that it later admitted were not reliable.

CBS's source, Bill Burkett, required that CBS arrange for a conversation between him and a senior advisor of the Kerry campaign as a condition for handing over the documents. On September 4, just four days before the segment aired, CBS producer Mary Mapes spoke with Joe Lockhart, a former Clinton press secretary and Kerry advisor.

Lockhart admitted that during the conversation he and Mapes discussed the upcoming segment attacking President Bush. Lockhart also admits that he later spoke with Burkett at CBS's urging.....

Does this mean that someone could go to jail in the DNC and at CBS?

My AOL buttetin board Post:

Notice even the AOL headline: "Iraqi security personnel patrolled the streets, and U.S. troops searched for weapons Sunday after an apparent victory."

Notice the use of "apparent victory". The media is still letting their political views govern how they report their version of the news. The majority of the news being reported in Iraq today, as during Vietnam is about body counts. Happily, the VC/NVA did not have hand video cams then as the terrorists do today, or America would have been shown daily video of the VC/NVA safely walking their streets around that country, as the Media implies with their showing video tapes today of the "Reality " of Iraq, of all of the terrorists walking the streets with their shouldered RPGs, and AK-47s, received from both the terrorists and or supporters. I feel it should be required that any video tape shown on the news should be labeled as to its origin throughout its use, and just instantaneous placing some Arab news service logo at the beginning is not ensuring Truth in Advertising, since really, this is advertising, used to try to influence another's thinking or perception of something.

For the another side of the News click this link:

Why is only maybe 5% of the time now and less before, is this side given?

As an aside: There was a topic the other day on these boards suggesting the boycotting of entertainers who support the North East Liberal John Kerry. My suggestion is that the boycott be expanded to include TWX/aol, since they apparently are donating advertising to the John Kerry campaign...
