U.N. ignores pro-Life and anti-cloning references in its report on speech

NEW YORK, September 24, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Costa Rican President Abel Pacheco gave a spirited defence of the right to life before the United Nations General Assembly Thursday. However, without an actual transcript of his talk the world would never know about it.

The notable speech called for international protection for life "from the moment of conception." The United Nations press release covering Pacheco's remarks totally omitted this call as well as his call to join the comprehensive ban on human cloning.

President Abel Pacheco told the UN, "As we have a duty to protect the oppressed and persecuted, we also have a duty to protect those who do not have yet a voice. In particular, there is a pressing need to agree on a normative framework, internationally binding, to uphold human dignity from the moment of conception. Necessarily, to defend life is to defend the very essence of man itself: all the promises, joys and hopes of the human being."

Regarding cloning President Pacheco said, "I believe in science within ethical limits. As a medical doctor, I reject human cloning while I firmly support research on adult stem cells, which does not present the same ethical and legal problems that cloning does. I invite you all to join us in our efforts to adopt an international convention to ban all forms of human cloning."

The UN press release covering Pacheco's speech mentioned his call for ending poverty and war and omitted the strong pro-life message. Looking at the UN press release of the leaders' addresses, only the United States is seen to encourage the ban on human cloning.

Leave it to the genocidal pro-abortion Leftists to go out of their way to suppress all views that challenge their death cult philosophy.

And, while we are at it, how about getting the Mullahs in Iran to support freedom of religion?

Kudos to the good doctor and president who accepts and promotes the culture of life for all his countrymen.

"As a medical doctor, I reject human cloning while I firmly support research on adult stem cells

Costa Rica is fervently committed to the culture of life and, in consequence, our people and government condemn any act of terrorism.

I believe in science within ethical limits. As a medical doctor, I reject human cloning while I firmly support research on adult stem cells, which does not present the same ethical and legal problems that cloning does. I invite you all to join us in our efforts to adopt an international convention to ban all forms of human cloning."

I'm not too happy with this part, we'll have to work with him on it:

"The International Criminal Court, whose establishment Costa Rica supported enthusiastically, provides us with an impartial organ to judge the most serious crimes against mankind. Ironically, while we all repudiate those crimes, only 94 states have ratified the Rome Statute and have accepted the competence of that Court. I would also like to refer to the need to globalize criminal justice in order to prosecute those who, taking advantage of public office, rob their own peoples."

"nations, we have been unable to obtain the necessary support for the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol."

Undoubtedly, the singular most disturbing aspect of this speech is that the UN intentionally eliminated all pro-life portions in its publication. Costa Rica is neith a large nor politically significant country. Such a speech might have gone unheeded were it not for LifeSite's astute observation of what was not reproduced by the UN.

Yes, lifesite is a great pro life site for UN issues. You know how I feel about the UN, have you ever cheeked out my homepage about a third of the way down, I have many sites and FR threads regarding the satanic, evil and controlling aspect of the UN.

It's a terrible organization and I wish more Americans would wake up and start learning about the agenda. If they win, we lose everything. All these fringe groups, right to life, 2nd amendment will mean nothing if the UN will get its way and if the USA continues to sign treaties.
