A Big Increase of New Voters in Swing States
NY Times ^ | September 26, 2004 | Ford Fessenden

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A sweeping voter registration campaign in heavily Democratic areas has added tens of thousands of new voters to the rolls in the swing states of Ohio and Florida, a surge that has far exceeded the efforts of Republicans in both states, a review of registration data shows.

The analysis by The New York Times of county-by-county data shows that in Democratic areas of Ohio - primarily low-income and minority neighborhoods - new registrations since January have risen 250 percent over the same period in 2000. In comparison, new registrations have increased just 25 percent in Republican areas. A similar pattern is apparent in Florida: in the strongest Democratic areas, the pace of new registration is 60 percent higher than in 2000, while it has risen just 12 percent in the heaviest Republican areas.

A spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, Christine Iverson, declined to comment on The Times's findings and said she did not believe Republicans were lagging in the registration battle. "We're very confident that we have a ground game that's as good as the Democrats', and better," she said.

Some of these people might vote, but most just wanted ACORN or ACT to go away.

The big concern is that the voter fraud, and dumbo complaints in court could soar to new levels.

If it's not close, they can't cheat.

The shame of it is that the Dems are using scare tactics to get these voters motivated.

In my damn state, Wisconsin, registering them is the key. ANYONE can vote absentee, and they cannot check your ID at the polls. You just need to state who you are. Not hard for activists to vote in 10 different polling stations.

Few things scare me more this election than the thought of thousands of brain-dead MTV viewers showing up at the polls in Ohio and Florida with their "Rock the Vote" buttons and Madonna/Dave Matthews ideology.

With any luck, maybe they'll get lost on the way to the polling place, or perhaps they'll somehow vote for Pat Buchanan by mistake.

Pat Buchanan isn't running this year. He supports the re-election of President Bush, although not all his policies.

I know, I know. However, I wouldn't put it past the clueless liberals of Palm Beach County or the newly-registered hip-hoppers of Cleveland to screw up their ballots in ways we can't even imagine. ;-) I've got butterflies just thinking of the possibilities.

By the way, I saw Buchanan debating Bill Press on TV recently. The network then plugged both of their books that are out, and both are quite critical of the Bush Administration. However, you're right in that Buchanan still prefers Bush. Judicial nominations, anyone?

I don't like Pat Buchanan: he hates Israel and doesn't support the war on terror.

Very scarey. The internet has to lead the fight for ID to vote. And publicize those who fight this.

There is another thread on here about Ohio and how the AG is investigating over 1000 fraudulent registrations in a small town. Very interesting that in other areas it is 250% increase. I call BS.

The Dems have always led in voter registration drives, they go out and push their entitlements and make promises to people who really dont care about their right to vote they just want the entitlements.

People who care about their country and know the issues have been registered for years.

"I get about 30 new voters or changes of address in six hours," said Ms. Green, who was hired by Project Vote, the nonpartisan arm of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or Acorn. "I used to get 16 in 45 minutes, but now everyone's registered."

Everyone?

When the silly motor voter law was foisted on us, there was a BIG upswing in voter registrations in my region. But after election analysis showed they didn't vote. The number of people voting increased very slightly in line with the population growth.

Dems registered 300,000 new voters just in my state, Ohio. Even if some of them show up Kerry will win. Class warfare,(tax cuts for the rich), race baiting (mentioning Jim Crow laws) and misery pandering (job outsourcing, health care cost crisis) are working.
