Kerry rules out more Iraq troops

DEMOCRATIC presidential candidate John Kerry, who has warned of deepening chaos in Iraq, said today he would not send additional US troops even if turmoil persists into next year.

In an interview with National Public Radio, Mr Kerry reiterated "there's no way" he would have gone to war knowing Saddam Hussein posed no imminent threat with weapons of mass destruction and had no ties to al-Qaeda terrorists. Mr Kerry said the US could not cut-and-run after the March 2003 invasion. "Not having a failed state in Iraq, it seems to me, is important to our country's security," he said.

But he virtually closed the door on sending additional US troops to Iraq if he has no success in his plan to replace some of the 140,000 US personnel with soldiers from other countries and Iraqi security forces.

"I do not intend to increase troops," said the Massachusetts senator, running in the November 2 election to unseat President George W. Bush.

"I intend to get the process in place that I described and I believe as a new president, with new credibility, with a fresh start, that I have the ability to be able to change the dynamics on the ground."

Mr Kerry again recognised that there was little immediate enthusiasm among other countries for sending troops to Iraq but blamed this on what he called Mr Bush's inept and "arrogant" diplomacy.

"This president has so little credibility and so little ability to bring those countries to our side that you can't do it," he said. "I acknowledge it is a difficult task. But it is the only way, ultimately, to be successful."

But the Democrat's staunch refusal to consider sending more US troops contrasted with his remarks in a televised interview in April, when he also spoke of resistance among US allies to putting boots on the ground in Iraq.

"If it requires more troops in order to create the stability that eliminates the chaos that can provide the groundwork for other countries, that's what we have to do," he said on NBC's Meet the Press.

"Cool, he gets my vote," Musab al Zarqawi, a Jordanian, was quoted as saying.

(Admit it, Jean, you're winging this, aren't you?)

Flip... Flop...

I guess he figured out that if he has more troops, he'll have to resurrect the draft.

Kerry is a liar.

Yesterday, Kerry said that we now know there were no connections between Al Qaeda and Iraq.

He must not have read the Senate Intelligence Committee Report or the 9/11 Commission Report, both of which cited the many connections between Iraq and AQ.

A high ranking Iraqi fedayeen soldier attended at least one pre planning 9/11 meeting with AQ.

Saddam knew 9/11 was coming and where we were going to be hit.

Even the Clinton Justice Department was able to obtain an indictment against OBL which cited the terrorist's ties to Iraq.

A federal judge has granted two 9/11 families a multi-million dollar judgement - against Iraq.

During the 90's, the mainstream press wrote about the world's alarm at the growing relationship between Saddam and Osama bin Laden. Old Media thinks we can't look these things up.

He wanted more trrops before he wanted less troops. At least the French are consistent; they will send zero troops.

Apparently his plan is to replace American troops with French troops.

Sounds perfectly realistic to me.

Here is his plan:
After he wins election, he will tell the world that we lost the war, he will apologize to the world for what we did, he will pull out our troops and kiss the ring of his master, Kofi Annan, who will assume world power from this sovereign hand-over.
Count on it - he's Jimmy Carter but much nastier.
That explains why he is constantly flip-flopping - he can't tell the Americans this other than I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WILL FIND ON JANUARY 21.
Traitor to our military during Vietnam, traitor to our military NOW!

He's just reiterating his "plan" - to go crawling on his belly to the French and the Germans begging forgiveness, thinking that he will be able to demand they send troops, and they will. And he calls the president arrogant.

What the heck is Kerry smoking?---

"New credibility"? ---- More like "NO credibility".

Kerry's "plan" brings renewed hope to the terrorists who plan to kill us.

Now Kerry's "one" position on Iraq is to set a date and get out. That's just what the terrorists want. Can the dems be so desperate for power that to win, they will bank on the immediate increase in violence that this position will cause? Blood for votes.

Does this mean the troops there have no idea when they will come home, as they will not be rotated out?
