Kerry Accuses Bush of Hiding Troops Plan
MYWAY ^ | Sep 17, 2004 | MARY DALRYMPLE

Posted on 09/17/2004 12:54:28 PM PDT by blogblogginaway

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Democratic Sen. John Kerry on Friday accused the Bush administration of hiding a plan to mobilize more National Guard and reserve troops after the election while glossing over a worsening conflict in Iraq.

"He won't tell us what congressional leaders are now saying, that this administration is planning yet another substantial call-up of reservists and guard units immediately after the election," Kerry said. "Hide it from people through the election, then make the move."

The Democratic presidential candidate listed examples where he sees Bush misleading voters about Iraq, seeking to turn the conflict into a liability for Bush even as the president polishes his credentials as the best candidate to deter terrorists and protect the nation. Kerry portrayed the president as out of touch with a serious and dangerous situation.

"With all due respect to the president, has he turned on the evening news lately? Does he read the newspapers?" Kerry said. "Does he really know what's happening? Is he talking about the same war that the rest of us are talking about?"

I posted this on another thread:

If at first you don't succeed.....

Just heard a report on Fox News. In his first statement of the day (Friday) John Kerry said President Bush was planning a major call-up of the Guard after the election.

Didn't have the balls to say that yesterday.

This is the type of thing that needs major coverage as it truly reveals the type of person he is.

Calls President Bush a coward for joining the National Guard and does not realize that many, many members of the Guard are taking that very, very personally.

Sees President Bush get a hell of an ovation when he speaks to the National Guard. Several Ovations.

Speaks to the Guard. Reception cold as ice. Reports have people leaving. Uses this forum to slam the man they, these very same people received warmly and enthusiasticly 2 days before. Applause so scare those listening can count the hands. Looks nervous. Finishes his speech and probably could not get out of there fast enough.

The next day says something he did not have the balls to say to their faces. Did he think that statement would get him the support of the NAtional Guard?

It all goes to character. He's an arrogant, pompous ass who has not learned how to conduct himself outside the state of Mass.

President Bush knows what's happening, because he's in charge, unlike John Kerry, who gets his news from the mainstream media and the DNC offices.

I thought Kerry condemned VP Cheney for "scare tactics?"

Now he's trying to scare voters into voting for him? Vote for me and I'll forget we are in a war?

Somebody call Vlad Putin. Apparently, the war's over and the terrorists won.

"John Kerry's conspiracy theory of a secret troop deployment is completely irresponsible," said spokesman Steve Schmidt. "John Kerry didn't launch this attack when he spoke to the National Guard because he knows they know it is false and ridiculous."

Nuff said. There's a reason his handlers don't let him speak to reporters.

My son is in Iraq with the national guard and they are being replaced with the 3rd iteration of troops....some of whom are national guard.

This is not a secret.

It's been decided for well over a year.

They probably have already decided the units that will be on rotation #4.

I expect they will point at these already designated troops and say that this was the secret plan.

John F*ckin's chutzpah! He's the one who keeps refusing to tell us about his plans for Iraq on the grounds its all "hypotheetical." And yep, here he is blasting President Bush for keeping his post-election Iraq plans a state secret! Does the Kerry Campaign even know what its doing from one day to the next? Cause Kerry has been avoiding reporters for a record 46 days now and early voting's starting in Oregon and its going to begin soon in Florida. Quite simply, his campaign is a mess.

This is part of the DNC scare propaganda. It goes along with all those rumors about the draft. You can tell people that only Democrats are talking about restoring the draft, but they won't believe it.

Kerry hopes that everyone will worry that after Bush is elected, they might get called up. Kids will get drafted, NG personnel will be pulled from their jobs and sent overseas, and so forth.

The media has also been running stories today about a shortage of NG personnel. It may or may not be true, but it's no coincidence that it appears on the same day Kerry is pulling this stunt.

If Bush is re-elected, no doubt, he will also start dragging blacks behind his pickup truck and cut everyone's social security benefits.

The President knows that what is going on in Iraq is largely an effort to sway public opinion in the U.S. because those elements in Iraq in no way could defeat the U.S. militarily. His strong, steady and optimistic leadership is intended to bulwark the public and keep us on course - this is called leadership. There is no lack of sources of negative news if that is what one want to read/see. Kerry on the other hand is falling back on his old playbook from his Vietnam protest days: he is trying to demoralise the U.S. public and at the same time give comfort to the enemy. Funny how somethings just don't change.

Actually, the plan is to use the election to establish those who will be drafted. If you vote for Kerry, then you go on the list. I think this is the best screening process, much better than that used in Vietnam. It's too bad the news got out early about the draft, and that is obviously why Bush's numbers are up, since no one wants to be drafted. Face it, we plan to invade Iran, Syria, Yemen, North Korea, France, Germany, then go along with Taiwan and invade mainland China. During all this, the secret militias we established that now have access to assault weapons will cross over the border from Vermont and secure Quebec and then sweep west to annex Canada. It's all such a fine plan.

I just want to know who blabbed?
