Something to Yak About - Kerry on Iraq: Nowhere Left To Flop? New Subject For Kerry Mega-Flops The Kerry Plan: Attack, Attack, Attack Calls For Apology After Guard Insult Ignored By Kerry Kerry Speech Called a Slap In The Face US Troops Attacked In Ad By Kerry Backers This Is Just Plain Mean Minnesota Braiders For Bush Talkers Profile - Martha Zoller, WDUN/Gainesville, GA The Final Yak
How many different positions has John Kerry taken on the war to oust Saddam Hussein? Five? Six? Eight? Even the trusty Yak Abacus can't keep up with the flippery and floppery exhibited by the Gentleman from Massachusetts. But columnist Charles Krauthammer seems to have hammered home the point - there's nowhere left for Kerry to flop to or from. Time will tell.
Whether John Kerry has exhausted all possible positions on Iraq - which is doubtful given his penchant for nuance - remains to be seen, but there's another critical issue on which Kerry's position is clear as muck. His timetable for troops in Iraq is about as incoherent as his overall Iraq policy.
The latest sign of desperation in the Kerry campaign is his abandonment of putting forward anything other than cheap shots and abiding those who take them. "I am absolutely taking the gloves off," Kerry said in an interview earlier this week. In keeping with John Kerry's pugilistic metaphor, The Yak wonders if the nominee is as adept at boxing as he is at playing wide receiver.
In keeping with his new gloveless attack plan, John Kerry ignored calls to apologize for smearing members of the National Guard and Reserve when he equated Guard service with draft dodging.
Seems the Kerry campaign calculus of calling the commander in chief a liar in front of the men and women he commands didn't go over so well with those attending the National Guard Association conference in Las Vegas Thursday. According to one member of the Missouri Air National Guard, "The thing that was frustrating to me sitting here listening to him is every time he would say, 'We didn't do this, we didn't do that,' it was a slap in my face."
Okay folks, politics is a rough and tumble business and cheap shots are to be expected. But what were they thinking when the Kerry-supporting lunatics at Move On Dot Org put out that ad attacking the courage of our troops? "Depicting an American soldier in effect surrendering in the battle against the terrorists is beyond the pale," said former senator and WWII combat veteran Bob Dole. Will Kerry blow off appeals to denounce this spot denigrating our troops? Place your bets, folks.
First, John Kerry and his supporters go after the president. Then they go after his administration and policies. Then they go after our troops. Now, they're going after little girls. These people need counseling.
This has nothing to do with John Kerry's flips or flops on anything. We just think it's a really cool picture. And we'd like to end on a high note because the picture of that little kid on her dad's shoulders crying is just heartbreaking. (Thanks, DK - you know who you are.)

"When Senator Kerry attacks President Bush's National Guard record as a refusal to serve in the U.S. Military, he is degrading the commitment of all the proud men and women who have served and are serving today." (SOURCE: Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), September 16, 2004)
This is great. Forward to everyone.
