'Unfit for Command' Not on Kerry's Reading List

Trail Tales noted Kerry's appearance Wednesday on "Imus in the Morning," but it seems we buried the lead item. The Massachusetts senator gave his most extensive comments to date about "Unfit for Command," the book that disrupted any plans Kerry had for a smooth campaign.

It seems Kerry opted not to read it. Here's the exchange:

Imus: "Did you read 'Unfit for Command?'"
Kerry: "No."
Imus: "Did anybody on your staff?"
Kerry: "I have no idea."
Imus: "Why wouldn't you want to know what's in it? It's the No. 1 New York Times [bestseller] — of course, it says 'nonfiction' bestseller."
Kerry: "Because they have right-wing people to buy them in bulk, and that's what they're doing."
Imus: "No, I understand."
Kerry: "Look, it's a pack of lies. It's an absolute pack of lies. It's been proven to be a pack of lies."

The book's author, John E. O'Neill, fired back.

Did Imus ask if "The New Soldier" is on Kerry's reading list? :-)

got mine today :)

You want to know something funny? On the "my account" part of my amazon.com profile, there's no record of me having bought the book. I was freaking out earlier b/c it's reflected on the card I used to buy it...

But I did get it... wierd, huh?

LOL, it's a pack of lies, but none of them has read it. That's just too funny.

Kerry doesn't have to read the book. He knows what's in there, he lived it.

So why didn't little Imie ask him for an example of ONE, just ONE of the alleged "lies" in the book,,,how does he know they are lies if he hasn't read it?

Is Kerry denying he had his pic taken with Viet Cong leaders and that it now hangs in a museum in North Vietnam, honoring him as a war hero for the communists? He is saying that's a lie???

Imus has no guts.

Borders-Beachwood (OH) had quite a few today, in a largely liberal area.

Did Imus ask if "The New Soldier" is on Kerry's reading list?

No, he had to break for some more kool-aid.

I was at B&N yesterday with a friend perusing the current affairs display while he waited in line at the customer service kiosk. I circled the display noting the abundance of Bush-bashing tomes then came upon a stack of "Unfit for Command." I obtained my copy two weeks ago.

Just as I spotted the stack, a 50-something gal who was perusing the display, too, picked up the copy on the display stand atop the stack, placed that copy upside down with the spine to the inside of the display, replaced the stand, and placed a pro-Kerry book on the display.

I immediately reached over, replaced the pro-Kerry book on its own stack, grabbed the upside-down "Unfit" and replaced it on the stand. I then patted the gal on her back and said, "Did you know he fabricated three Purple Hearts?"

She stepped away and responded, "That's a lie! At least he went."

I then unleashed: "Three bandaid Purple Hearts. He fragged himself three times in three months of combat. Bush volunteered twice for Nam. Kerry disobeyed orders to go upriver at An Thoi. He chickened out and whined so badly that he lasted but a single week at which time he was transferred to a cushier post just to be rid of his cowardice."

Upon hearing this she stepped back and screeched: "What are you doing talking to people who have no interest in talking to you? Get away from me!"

I told her to quit hiding good books. She left, and I held the ground at the current affairs display. My buddy and I have been chuckling about this ever since.

I want this state's 11 electoral votes to go to W badly. The Bush bashers need to be crushed.

Bull Malarkey.

We all know he's read it....he couldn't help it. There's a secret copy stashed between his pillow and mattress.

And he knows it's all true.

Good one!

I was at Borders today looking for the book...they have a waiting list that you get put on, they had a box full of books on the floor behind the counter with a list of names on top. I made sure I asked real loud for the book's availability. The lady couldn't just say they were "all sold out", but quietly referred me to the service desk! Ha!

Mr. Kerry, if you didn't read it, how do you know that it contains a "pack of lies"?

That's a great story. When I bought mine a while back, there were NO copies where the should have been (you know, the best seller, non fiction section). I looked all over, and finally found one. When I walked up to the counter I then saw they had a few of them displayed there.

I had also picked up Tommy Franks "American Soldier". When I plopped these down on the counter, the lady gave me a dirty look. No, I'm not making this up.

The New York Times to my knowledge has still not reviewed "Unfit for Command", even though it is number one on there best seller list for weeks now.

Aren't these liberals dirty? hahahaha Can't wait to pick up a copy of "Liberal Agenda...The Absolute True Story of Dan Rather", or whatever they are going to call it.

Kerry: "Because they have right-wing people to buy them in bulk, and that's what they're doing."

Even the MSM has written about how hard the book has been to find, because it's so popular. And I've never heard even the NYTimes or Dan Rather accuse the right-wing of buying them in bulk! Kerry is delusional.
