KERRY'S NEW LOW

BY JOHN PODHORETZ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Email Archives Print Reprint

September 9, 2004 -- YESTERDAY John Kerry an nounced somberly that the nation had reached a "tragic milestone." He was referring to the thousandth American death in the Iraq war. But he might well have been referring to the tragic milestone his own career reached when he ascended the podium yesterday in Cincinnati and, I believe, consigned his presidential hopes to the ash-heap of history.

For what Kerry did yesterday, in his most unambiguously anti-war speech yet, was to make an unintentional mockery of himself and his party. He has taken to calling the war in Iraq "the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time." But yesterday he boiled down his chief complaint against the war to an astonishingly crass level.

While paying the necessary obeisances to the sacrifices of our troops in Iraq, he quickly moved on to complain that the key problem with the cause for which they have been making these sacrifices is just too damn expensive. The $200 billion price tag, he complained, "is $200 billion that we're not investing in education, health care and job creation here at home."

You see, we could have lots of after-school programs and lots of other nice stuff if it weren't for Iraq!

Without national security, we can kiss all of our freedom and rights goodbye.

YUP, I AM EXPECTING A WALTER KRONKITE MOMENT WHEN ONE OF THE BLATHERING NABOBS OF THE ALPHABET MEDIA COMES OUT BEFORE THE ELECTION (OCTOBER SURPRISE) AND LOOKS STRAIGHT AT THE AUDIENCE AND CONFIRMS IN THEIR "INFINITE WISDOM" THAT THE WAR IN IRAQ IS NOT WINNABLE.

This will be the point where I see the end of the MSM as we know it!

Good riddance

I will be first in line for early voting in my city.

These lines will be long and people want to vote against Kerry.

I am now expecting a landslide for Bush/Cheney. The libs are so desperate and have their media out to destory our liberties. I know God will have the final say so on this topic.

Kerry is such a idiot. I can not believe the Democrats don't have anyone better to run. They must be hoping for Hillary in 2008.

I don't see how anyone in their right mind can vote for Kerry. He does not have one solid platform. Even his service in Vietnam is a sinking ship.

I have taken to telling people that if they don't want to vote for Bush they should stay home, there is no excuse to vote for Kerry.

"Kerry is such a idiot. I can not believe the Democrats don't have anyone better..."

Kerry is running on the exact same platform that Bob Dole used: It's my turn darn it!
It is pathetic that in presidential races, the opposition can be so weak. When the opposition is weak, everyone loses.

Kerry is faced with the same thing that Bob Dole faced, namely a popular president running in a period of prosperity. the fact that we are also in a necessary war makes it even more unlikely that we will turn the battle over to another leader. Kerry was picked to run as good a race as he can in a truely losing cause.

"He was referring to the thousandth American death in the Iraq war."

War is a rough sport. There is an enemy trying to kill American soldiers and marines.

We say we value life. Last year we had 42,815 highway fatalities. These were accidental.

Despite the seriousness of our losses, Sen. Kerry should commend the military for keeping the toll so low instead of exploiting the deaths for political gain.

"It's the little coffins, Stupid !!"

The pictures of those bloody little bodies says more about the WOT than a thousand words.
Kerry has no idea what it takes to fight the WOT and every parent going into the voting booth should have those images seared into their memory.
After school programs are useless if your kids are dead at the hands of terrorists.
Health care won't save you,if you have to jump off the 85th floor of the WTC.
Veteran's benefits are meaningless if your plane slams into the Pentagon.
George Bush understands this.
John Kerry does not.

"I will outlaw terrorism because it costs too much money!" he shouts to the crowd, "Anyone committing terrorism in the US will be stiffly fined!"

This clown dumped on our Vietnam Vets and is now going after our kids in Iraq. Why should I be surprised that he puts a price on Liberty and their sacrifice?

On Sept. 11, 2001, thieves broke into my house, stole a bunch of nice stuff and killed my family.

Now I'm in 2003, do I buy a bunch of nice new stuff and find another person with whom I start a family, or do I spend some of my money on a security system and a good gun first?

There's no decision to make here. Kerry is such a godda**** panderer.

I hope that everyone who supports Bush-Cheney will remember the thrill in running up the score on a despised opponent and that they will all go to the polls and actually vote for Bush-Cheney. Nothing would be sweeter than to see a Reagan-sized blowout. It would be like Nebraska vs. Oklahoma.

As discussed and sound byte was played on the Bill Bennett Show this A.M., Kerry in just the last month on the Tim Russert show said, and I paraphrase: Kerry: "Bush is not spending enough on the war in Iraq." Russert: How much more should he spend? Kerry: "As many billions as it takes." In short, ANOTHER COLOSSAL FLIP-FLOP!
