I know that's a strong headline, but imagine you're a person who only gets his or her news from the New York Times. For many people, that isn't much of a stretch.
You open up today's Times to the Page 3 feature on the Beslan horror. It doesn't mention that the terrorists were Muslims.
I know, I know. The sun rose today in the east, the sky is blue, roses are red, and the Times won't call terrorists Muslims. What else is new?
How about altering a quote specifically to remove any implication that the Beslan terrorists were Muslims?
The wire services reported, in a quote printed in thousands of newspapers, that the captured Beslan terrorist said, "By Allah, I did not shoot."
Today's Times piece quotes him as saying, "By God, I did not shoot"—a translation that no other news organization has used.
In other words, the Times wanted so badly to leave Islam out of its Beslan feature that it altered the terrorist's quote.
This is more than political correctness. This is the deliberate alteration of a news quote to create the false impression that a terrorist follows the Judeo-Christian God and not Allah.
This is an outrage.
I would like to say that I am shocked and will cancel my subscription to the New York Times, but I can no longer be surprised by them and I cancelled my subscription long ago.
I just read an article from the NYT in our local Tulsa World about the CULT OF DEATH. This Cult of death is mentioned quite a few times and the article is very detrimental to the way the world sees that Cult of death.
The words MUSLIM and ISLAM are never mentioned.
It is an outrage, but typical of leftists to twist reality to suit their own political view.
The only way to fight back is to stop consuming their product. Just stop buying their paper and any other paper that uses NYT stories.
I cancelled my paper for this reason and I made sure that I let them know why. Why give money to people who hate you and blame you for all the ills in the world. Put them out of business!
In no way is Allah the God of the Bible.
Well, obviously, by their own lights, the NYT found it unfit to print.
Even this must be qualified. They would allow us to have an emotional reaction for a black or Muslim or homosexual or feminist or marxist victim, but not against any of the above or for the contrary of any of the above. Otherwise, their standards will be hard at work--as if we were all grammar school students, protecting us from ourselves. This is the most obtuse of the "elite media's" many conceits.
Its no different than when the press goes out of their way to point out that a criminal is, for example, an illegal alien.

In this Land which is allegedly Your Land and My Land, where the media proclaims itself “free” and “independent,” virtually all news networks just happen to be conducting a simultaneous blackout on TRUTH. I have not seen people from the cornucopias of Christian or Jewish religions running around blowing up themselves and the people around them...these same people normally don’t wear veils or other masks (SWAT teams are excluded) and long robes covering tennis shoes and jeans along with whatever ammunition de jour. By all accounts terrorists are Militant Islamists – Muslims; whether the New York Times wants to go along with “Suicide Bomber” rather than murderer, or “freedom fighters” rather than terrorists simply makes that newspaper not at all relevant to today’s War on Terrorism and the Queen of Political Correctness – a not so cute word for Censorship!
Ever read the short story called "Let Them Eat Nutri-Cake" It will put into perspective what the media is doing with the entire war on terror quite nicely.
Saying an illegal alien is a criminal is redundant. He is a criminal simply on the basis that he is in the country illegally.
