With all due respect to those in Florida, can just one network give FIVE FREAKIN MINUTES to break away from their soaked reporters flapping in the breeze...

As one of many Floridians who are suffering from the unrelenting blast of Hurricane Frances coverage (did you know I should be buying batteries and water?....for the 8 millionth time!) I concur.

Bump to FR getting the story 12 hours before the old media.

More from the A.P.

Sarhan said that defense officials laid a trap for al-Douri, knowing that he had been in ill health, reportedly from leukemia.

"We had received information that he was admitted to a hospital near Tikrit, or let us say a clinic to have blood transfusion," he told al-Hurra. "As soon as we received this information, the forces were able to plan a major operation to arrest him."

I switched names after 9-11

What a shame 'AmericaUnited' wasn't a portent for the future.

The RATs instead decided on a strategy of 'whatever is good for Dims is bad news for America'. Fortunately their strategy proved faulty but it has divided this nation along harder lines than I have ever seen before.

After Kerry is finished off in grand style it will be interesting to see if a ration wing of that party can develop.

Former Saddam Deputy Arrested in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Saddam Hussein's former second-in-command, Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, was arrested in northern Iraq, an Iraqi Defense Ministry spokesman told al-Hurra television.

Saleh Sarhan said al-Douri was captured while in a clinic where he was receiving medical treatment.

"There was a major operation around Tikrit and al-Dour and American forces supported by Iraqi civil defense corps members were able to capture Izzat al-Douri," he told the U.S. government-funded Arabic-language station in a live telephone interview. Saddam was captured at a safehouse near al-Dour in December.

The U.S. military said it had no immediate comment on the report.

Sarhan said al-Douri was now in the hands of the Americans.

Al-Douri, who had a U.S. bounty of $10 million on his head, was the highest-ranking member of Saddam's government who was still at large. Once the vice chairman of the Baath Party's Revolutionary Command Council, he was a longtime confidant of Saddam.

He is No. 6 on the U.S. military's list of 55 most wanted figures from Saddam's regime. Forty-four on the list had been captured or killed.

U.S. military officials have said they believe al-Douri is playing an organizing role in the 16-month-old insurgency against U.S. forces.

I'm sure you understand that that saying speaks to "Speaking the truth, rather than just repeating what the mindless crowd is just blathering."

I think I put that on my tag line a month or two ago to remind everyone that Kerry was really naked and the truth would come out. If you remember, two months ago and before, there were many here who were getting very wobbly ("Bush is going to lose, blah, blah, blah") and I kept posting to "keep the faith", that Rove and Team were keeping the powder dry, that the heavy guns had not started firing, and when they did, the effect would be devastating.

Well, now 'everyone' sees that happened. So I guess it's time for a new tag line.

Now she's just waiting for Bin-Laden to get out of the house. Must wait till October..."

LOL, do you realize how weak and pathetic you sound? BooHoo, that big, bad Karl man is being mean to me again!
Rather than whining that you've been damaged politically, try being happy for our country and our troops.

Proper interrogations of al Durri may shed some light on the Iraq-al Qaeda connection. al Durri's cousin is married to Colonel Saadan Mahmud Abdul Latif aka Abu-Wael who is the co-founder of the al Qaeda funded Ansar al Islam.

IT'S A JOKE PEOPLE! A JOKE!

Reminder to me and note... Some don't have a highly developed sense of humor, sarcasm, whit, etc. Be sure to place the following disclamer after such posts: "This is only a joke. <\/sarcasm <//joke <//laugh <//humor <//your closing tag goes here"
