WEST ALLIS, Wis. -- President Bush is sending former President Clinton "best wishes for a swift and smooth recovery."
At a state fairgrounds rally in Wisconsin, the president told backers Clinton is in America's thoughts and prayers -- as he faces heart bypass surgery in a New York hospital.
Many in Bush's audience booed when Clinton's name was mentioned. The president made no comment on that and continued with his rally speech.
In June, Bush invited the former president and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to the White House for the unveiling of their official portraits. Bush praised his predecessor as a man of knowledge and compassion who has "the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president."

Everyone let Drudge know the AP has blatantly lied here. He has a link on his site with the AP lie about the audience booing. He needs to correct it.
What's worse is that the media will play up those boo's to be some big-assed "proof" of "Republican mean-spiritedness." Naturally, this is the same press that saw nothing wrong with Leftists cheering the death of President Ronald Reagan.

What's silly is that proof of what happened should be SO easy to obtain!! Local affiliates must have been there, private citizens probably had cameras rolling. I'll bet there were a smattering of boos -- let's face it, there are always a few bad apples -- that GWB may not have even heard.

I saw video of the President's statement about Clinton. There was no perceptible booing, and I was listening for it.
What lying spinmeisters the MSM is...

Not so sure the people of swing state Wisconsin will feel to great about this smear.

If that's Drudge point, he needs to provide a link showing that it's a lie. Posting a lie without saying it's a lie proves nothing.
Tweaking the propaganda until they get it right.
But no mention of the many who cheered, how blatanly biased can they get.
Again, AP refusing to issue a byline on who wrote this story.
Not only were there no audible boo's, many in the audience around me took a moment to silently pray right then & there for Clinton, Florida & Russia.
Methinks the press is delving into fiction!

The AP report is a complete fabrication. I was there, seating in bleachers back and center from the President. When he announced that word had come through as he was arriving that President Clinton had been hospitalized, the crowd fell silent. In direct contrast to the pep rally atmosphere moments before. Bush then called for the assembled group to keep Clinton in their thoughts and prayers -- to which the crowd applauded loudly and genuinely. Bush then moved on to make comment on the Florida hurricane and the Russian hostage situation, calling for the same thoughts and prayers.
The AP report is nothing short of an amateurish smear job.
If you can pull WTMJ-AM radio on the web, you'll hear Milwaukee reaction -- and it's entirely incredulous that the city and state party are being painted in such harsh tones nationally. Bush genuinely showed concern about Clinton and the crowd responded in kind.
