Rogers County law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the scene of a sulfuric acid spill at Valmont Coatings-Oklahoma Galvanizing on Monday morning. The spill sent more than a dozen workers to area hospitals for treatment.
Bob Anderson, director of Rogers County Emergency Management Office, said nearly 1,000 gallons of sulfuric acid from a storage tank was spilled outside, and just east, of Valmonts newest building located in the Riverview Business Park near the Tulsa Port of Catoosa. The Riverview Business Park is located on Highway 266.
A spokesperson with Claremore Regional Hospital confirmed the hospital treated 16 Valmont employees who were exposed at the site of the spill. While one employee was released Monday, 15 were expected to be kept at the hospital overnight for observation.

Ping............
Uh-oh. Where's Dave Matthews?
Rogers County is my home county, infact my old high school is about 15 minutes from Claremore. I spent about half of my time in Claremore, sinch it was a much larger town, and we actually lived closer there than to my hs. Infact i was born at Claremore Regional Hospital.
Just thought you'd want to know
Ten or so minutes from where I live.
A bit vague,I hope it was just from fumes and not skin contact.
Ever hear of Green liquor, the stuff they use to make paper?
Easy enough to fix. Just dump a load of dry cement on it and it will neutralize it completely.

Oh, but that's soooooo boring, c'mon! Counter-dump a bunch of sodium hydroxide! You know you wanna do it! :D
Nope! Can't say as I have.
I do know a little about Sulphuric Acid though. We used to keep some of it in the barn. We maintained all of own equipment.
LOL! I remember that one from chemistry class back in high school.
Now that has got to smell bad.
That might get slightly warm, but nothing else. For real entertainment, try sugar, or maybe just sodium bicarbonate.
(I once saw a chromic acid spill on a concrete sidewalk. Imagine a five-foot high mound of bubbles looking like the overflow from a raging washing machine, colored bright yellow.)
One of my fondest memories of middle school chem was watching Zinc being dissolved by dilute Hydrochloric acid. It got warm, too warm to hold comfortably because of it. Science... it's a beautiful thing.
Acid spill or Rats spewing more vitriol? Sounds like a cover up, are we sure the Hildabeast wasn`t there?
Bush!
