Exactly. If the Russians won, Afghanistan would be a breakaway state right now, far worse than it currently is. Hindsight being what it is, 20 years ago Russia was the enemy. Now terrorists and radical Islam is the enemy of all mankind.
actually, there is a slime chance the soviet union might still be together if not for the resistance the US helped afghanistan put up. That war was their 'vietnam'. Our assistance there also helped speed up the collapse of the evil empire. Bo is right on in regards to this.
