George Bush in New Hampshire
Lake Victoria | Today | Brainhose

Posted on 08/29/2004 1:14:26 PM PDT by Brainhose

W. is going to be in my town of Nashua tomorrow. The official W site and the NHGOP site makes no mention of it. Now I discover that it it is by ticket only (Which is fine) but most of the tickets were given out to the faculty at the school, I guess that the Bush campaign doesn't feel that they have any actual suporters here! The teachers in Nashua are just as horrid as the teachers in Massachusetts. Good Grief. Maybe I'm just whining but it doesn't seem to make sense. My entire family would be there holding signs and showing support, but we're not allowed to. Instead it's going to be a whole bunch of flaming libs holding protest signs.

Will duyba be visiting Exeter this year? I am going to the academy and it would be nice to see him, since I don't exactly live in a swing state (Texas).

Sorry, Brainhose, you are incorrect. I'm going w/ 6 other friends and picked up my tickets today. The vast majority of tickets have been given to volunteers, since they were the first to hear about the event and called for tickets. If you really want to help w/ the campign, I would urge you to call the HQ in Manchester (625-BUSH) and sign-up. Get Involved! Don't just complain.

I went to the rally in Stratham a few weeks ago. It was a really good time. Actually seeing 5000 Bush supporters in one place is encouraging when all you see is the other side in the media calling Bush a liar and worse. There are still some places in NH and Maine where people understand what strength and character mean. Hopefully, this silent majority will show up in force in November.

I agree with you. It's fine to have ticketed events for only the volunteers, but as far as keeping Bush in the public's eye up here (especially among the undecided), he might as well not be here at all. This event, and the last two that I'm now aware of, were by invitation. How about a public rally like what happened in Ohio yesterday?
(I get pleas for $$$ from the GOP, but no invites. In fact, some liberal coworkers who have never been registered Pubbies received lovely color photos of Dubya and Laura, which they displayed outside their offices for public ridicule.)
Do you know where the event is tomorrow?

All candidates including Kerry are making their events ticket only.Did you just sign up to parrot the democrat talking point?

You're kidding, right? What democratic talking point?
I don't think that the open-air rally in Ohio yesterday for Bush (25,000+ attendees) was ticket-only.

If you have volunteered for the local Republican Party you will probably be on the list. I had to call the organizers personally and ask if I could get tickets. They don't usually just know who all the Bush supporters are unless you have left your address and phone number with them at some time in the past. Now that they know me, I'm hoping that I will get notices of campaign events like this.

They should already have the addresses of all the registered Republicans in the state. An open rally with GB would be a great way for them to get more people, not "just" registered Republicans, to sign up as volunteers.
(I'll give the state organization the benefit of the doubt. They've gotten new leadership. I read a very bitter statement by the previous head of NHGOP recently, but I don't know what the circumstances were.)

The democrats are constanly trying to tag Bush as not having open events as I am sure you are aware if you follow this forum

Who can keep track? Everything Bush does/doesn't do becomes a talking point for the democrats.

I'm glad that you got in. I went to the motorcade route and held up a sign, and the Prez waved to our small group It was great. My mother on the otherhand went to the the traffic circle outside the school and was treated like absolute dog crap by a bunch of facial pierced Kerry supporters who swore at her. I know I'm complaining, not necessarily about getting into the event, but just knowing where it was going to be held, so that I could show my support along the motorcade route. As it is I had to call the local police department to get the info. Wouldn't it have been nice to have published the info on the National and local GOP sites? Would it have killed the GOP to post something about it on the schedule page? It seems that the Kerry supporters had better info than those of us who support W. So stop chastising me for a moment and start wondering who is volunteering to get the word out. I subscribe to all GOP e-mail alerts and am an attendee of the Nashua republicans committee and yet this whole appearance was some kind of a national secret.
