Former President, William J. Clinton will address the congregation during the worship service on Sunday, August, 29, 2004. Dr. Forbes will introduce Mr. Clinton as part of an anouncement about the current Mobilization 2004 campaign to recover America's spiritual, moral and democratic values. United States Senator, Hillary Rodham Clinton will also attend the service.
Is this a joke?
This is a good example of why I no longer participate in organized Christianity....
I guess that they won't be talking about the BJ in the Oval Office right after Easter Service, huh?
Well, isn't this special?
Ah it's one of those churches that believe in holy boy foot worship.
Someone needs to bookmark this event for future use when the IRS and the "Rev." Barry Lynn start getting all uppity about conservative churches preaching conservative agendas.
Christian Coalition voter guides and sermons on moral decay seem to always be lambasted as some sort of reason to revoke the nonprofit status of many conservative churches. But, in reality the Democratic party uses "Church" as a voter drive platform more than the GOP.
YOU! GO TO YOUR ROOM! Now I'm going to be trying to shake that image all day.
I think we should DEMAND that its tax-exempt status be reviewed. Lets start an email campaign to the IRS demanding that they enforce the law!
Ditto. Words simply fail me.
This from the Riverside Church website:

If Mobilization 2004 is a partisan political effort, as I suspect it is (the website for that is conveniently "unavailable") this is a blantant violation of IRS regulations, not to mention a flouting of the seperation of church and state the liberals always scream about when conservatives want to limit infanticide or homosexual marriage!
That conjures up the hooker under the podium scene from Police Academy. Hooker under the pulpit?
Amen. And I expect we'll be seeing more and more of them over the next few years.
How did you know your post to their guest book was rejected?
Even the Onion would not have offered this offal. The prophecies of Jeremiah are coming to pass before our eyes, "and the people love it"!!
Nauseating.
Ah yes, the Reverend Hypocrite .Jackass . Jackson did give Bill spiritual direction, didn't he?
.
Well, to be fair, as I was searching high and low for anything resembling a statement of beliefs, I noticed that the mission statement says, "The Riverside Church seeks to be a community of faith. Its members are united in the worship of God known in Jesus, the Christ, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The mission of The Riverside Church is to serve God through word and witness; to treat all human beings as sisters and brothers; and to foster responsible stewardship of all Gods creation."
But, that's it. No statement of beliefs that I could find. They might as well be Universalist/Unitarian. You know, the "we all worship the same god" crowd.
