Two-party system alive & well in NYC (lame GOP won't have Babs or Boy Goeorge at their party!!!)
NY Daily News ^ | August 27, 2004 | JO PIAZZA and CHRIS ROVZAR

Big-name liberals are fixing to spoil next week's grand ol' party by throwing a better one. The band Lynyrd Skynyrd will rock out for Southern Republicans at Crobar on Sunday evening, but only a block north, Boy George will be hosting a "going-away" party for President Bush at the Coral Room with guests like Moby, Ben Jelen and Lou Reed.

Now, we're pretty sure Skynyrd could take Boy George in a New York minute. But we're just as convinced that hefty Harvey Weinstein could steamroll Pennsylvania Republican Sen. Rick Santorum.

The Miramax chief plans to rally his friends for the Mothers Opposing Bush reception at the Tribeca Film Center on Wednesday. Santorum, instead, will be sipping martinis with one-time hero cop Bo Dietl at his upper East Side fund-raising bash. (Bo has since moved up in the world: He's now a security consultant.)

Meanwhile, the Creative Coalition gathers at Spirit on Tuesday. Guests can rub elbows there with Alan Cumming and Billy Baldwin, but we hear the Coalition can't even persuade some board members to drop by.

Who cares? say several GOP notables.

"J.C. Watts and Bill Buckley are more of a draw to young people in the Republican world than Ben Affleck," says Alexandra Preate of Political Capital, a conservative consulting group that is planning many of the week's events.

Preate says a bash like Tuesday's Gotham Hall party - hosted by President Ronald Reagan's son Michael - is the sort of thing that's likely to appeal to conservatives.

Instead of Barbra Streisand, they're getting governors, senators and think-tank wonks - and Karl Rove.

Boy, can those folks party!

If only the GOP had a has-been turd burglar at their convention. Very dissappointed.

Do you really want to hurt me?
Do you really want to make me cry?

And the turd burglar isn't even an American to begin with.

President Bush stayed secluded in Crawford during the DNC. Meanwhile, the Dems are bringing out the heavies.

Well, according to the pic in #8, it certainly looks like his brain is leaking.

Boy George? He won't attract many GOP delegates. I don't think any of them are perverts. As far as Babs; they could hear her all the way to Madison Square Garden if she could learn to sing through her nose.

I thought that's what she's been doing all of these years ...

It's enough to stun a frog at 300 yards ...

Girl George and Boy Rosie O'Donnell... Ah yes, the faces of the modern democrat party. Capable of understanding and relating to the everday issues of Joe Sixpack. Just like their multi-zillionare leader Lurch Kerry.

Lynyrd Skynyrd or Boy George? Is this supposed to be a tough decision? LOL!

I might be tempted to attend a Babs sponsered event during the height of the Republican convention, if I were going. Other like minded conservatives would probably love the ability to voice their opinion directly to her face, too.

Republicans/Conservatives should re-consider not attending those events. Show up en masse. Direct confrontation, these Lib celebs will turn and run, though their supporters are unlikely to turn as quickly.

Democrats and Socialists have no class or sense of decency, the Republicans let them have the spotlight in Boston (which they were entitled to have) but now they will not do the same. Just like little spoiled brats, they want everything always.
