Perhaps, in the great scheme of things, she's precisely where she needs to be.
This was Monrovia, CA, high school, BTW.
Thanks...I was just wondering what, if any, standard there was..The board probably too nervous..it'll take a direct order by the governor..from what I've read, she should get out..the other reaso is that hope of parole is held out to all convicts as a way to regain their life, IF they obery the rules and work within the system..If they see it denied, unreasonably, then they lose reason to trust the system..
I meant the merits of her parole case, and her behavior in prison..
IMHO, the crimes which she participated in were beyond evil. What was done to both the LoBiancos and the Tate murders was horrendous and no matter how "rehabilitated" she gets in prison, she should never be allowed into society again.
I'm glad that she seems to have come to have a sense of real sorrow for what she did while with Charles Manson; but, that does not, IMO, mean that she should be let out. She must stay where she is at until she dies. There are just some things that don't become less horrible just because you are sincerely sorry.
Question..did you read all my comments on this thread, or were you just replying to the first on?
I knew a prison guard from San Quentin that had Charlie on his block. He said Charlie was always nice, polite....even funny & charming. Then, when his parole hearings came up....he would turn on the crazy.
Often at the same time.
Californina was using the gas chamber then. Her sentence was commuted in 1972 when the California State Supreme Court overruled the death penalty, before it was re-legislated and re-instituted. Her sentence, as the others who had been convicted and sentenced to death, is now life with the possibility of parole.
I had very very few contacts with charlie. I worked in the Hall of Justice Jail from approx. Sept of 1969 to Jan 1970. His compatriot "tex" watson was one of the inmates in one of the cell blocks I was responsible for. This was prior to charlies' arrest.
The homocide detectives were able to crack the code in their correspondices that gave them critical info for an additional murder (not the LaBianca family or the Sharon Tate and her baby and friends).
But after I got transferred out of the Jail to the transportation unit, I drove the bimbos to court and on one night guarded the jury. When charlie was arrested, he was placed in the isolation cell that had previously housed Sirhan Sirhan. It was on the same floor as the locker room that I had to change into my uniform in, and was very close to the elevator that I used to get to the locker room. (bear in mind it was a long time ago. As I remember, (and my memory may not be correct) his cell was a few feet from the door to my locker room. It was very close to the elevator reserved for the Deputies/jail as oppesed to the elevators used by others in the building.
From the 13th floor to the top of the building was dedicated to the jail. The basement was the Coroners bailiwick. What I remember of charlie was that he was a little wuss. Kinda like I consider kerry except he's a tall wuss....
Great stories! Thanks for sharing.
IMHO, she has served 35 years. That IS her life. She should be released.
As I have stated up the thread, she never killed anyone. From Bugiosi's book she was drafted at the last minute to accompany the others. If she had turned state's evidence as had Linda Kassabian, she would be tending her vegetable garden and grandchildren.
I am not excusing her crime, of course. But if she had been a part of a similar crime that was not so notorious, she would have been released long ago.
She is no Susan Atkins.
In Texas, we are much kinder to victims' families. They only have to go through the five or six appeals and resetting of the date with the gurney, but then they do get the privilege of seeing the slimeball murderer take his/her last ride. Then they can finally try to heal. It stinks, but it's still better than CA, where justice is denied.
Yeah, I agree that the system in Texas (for all its flaws) sounds superior.
They were people I pinged before related to this matter. Not an official Manson ping list.
Sorry - Thought my wink would let you know I's kidding - just a bump - again - sorry. ;-)
