Now you know most of America was watching their favorite soap operas but if any tuned in they would have quickly hit the remote for greener pastures. Bitter old man, that one. And an embarrassment for Democrats, disabled veterans and people in general.

until today, i was one of the majority that had fallen for the Democratic ploy....for some reason, i assumed Max Cleland had been 'wounded in action in Vietnam'
dems keep on saying he is a 'war hero' who 'left 3 limbs on the battlefield of Vietnam'
and dems keep saying republicans called him unamerican or questioned his patriotism...
after checking around the internet today....
it seems as if the republicans did not question his patriotism, but they did question his voting record in the senate (using pics of osama and saddam at the beginning of a commercial about his voting against homeland security bill or whatever is pushing it a bit, but they were commenting on his voting record in the senate).
and, it sounds like max cleland was finished with a noncombat mission taking radio gear to a location when he asked the chopper pilots to drop him off somewhere so he could hook up with some friends and have a beer....after hopping off the helicopter, it left, and he noticed a grenade on the ground where the chopper was....walks over and picks it up when it goes off....some good quotes in this link from max cleland how he didn't deserve the medals he got, but someone felt bad for him and put him in for them....dems and the media present cleland as some kind of war hero because he lost 3 limbs picking up a live grenade....as a veteran, i appreciate his service, but it lessens the price paid by others when dems whore him out as a war hero to get kerry votes from people who assume kerry must be ok if a 'war hero' says he is.

I agree, and the letter delivered to pres. Bush was never delivered. This was a photo op only, and Cleand told the press for Pres. Bush 'to put op, or shut up'! The Dems really are desperate - their actions speak louder then words. Again - Kerry tells Rumsfeld to resign, again - Kerry on his website questions Bush's Guard record. These people are really losing it!
I think he's going for the James Watt award for public tolerance.

They are going for a sympathetic view. Kerry has no use for this guy other than to parade him around and essentially back the Republicans into looking like they are bullying him (whether they ACTUALLY do or not). Then they can claim the wascally wepublicans beat up on an amputee.
Mark my words: Cleland is being used as a freak show intentionally by the Kerry campaign. The fact that he doesn't realize it makes me wonder how smart he really is.
According to evil dums, it doesn't matter how it happened, just the fact that he was in vn is qualifier. If that were the case then every single person that stepped foot in VN should receive a Silver Star.

Cleland admires Kerry because Kerry did the wound yourself thing right.
Cleland managed to blow off three limbs and only got one Purple Heart.

Its a matter of numbers. Statistically, he has to have somebody working as a maid, or gardener thats "of color" in one of his many large mansions.
