I've been a proponent of leveling the mosque, until you brought this up!
If a bunch of Reconquista fools took over the Alamo, I'm not sure I'd want the Marines to level it to get at them either....food for thott.
Sorry, but I don't care if the terrorists are hiding in the Taj Mahal, the Sistine Chapel, or the National Archive, give 'em once chance to surrender, then, failing that, LEVEL IT AND KILL THEM ALL!
you surround the mosque with Marines and you send in the Iraqis with Marines as backup...no muss, no fuss...but ya gotta "drain the swamp"...
The structure we see today is a re-build.
That being said, I would not want to see it leveled again.
