Are you perhaps refering to the Sassanian Empire at the eastern fringes of the Roman Empire and at the western fringes of the Chinese Empire?

Persian Empire ruled half of the world for 1500 years from China to Rome! ;-)
Some very very very small scale victories over the Persians are not that important!
I share your pride in Persian history. Persia with thousands of years in civilized rule was invaded by the Arabic religion made for the nomad Saudi’s of 1400 years ago. There is a clash of mentality to say the least. There is nothing Persian about the mullahs and their fascist aspirations. Unfortunately, we will have their blemish on an otherwise proud and civilized history of Iran.
