Self-inflicted politics (MSNBC's Keith Olbermann attacks Michelle Malkin in his blog)
MSNBC ^ | August 19, 2004 | Keith Olbermann

Posted on 08/19/2004 10:45:26 PM PDT by Cableguy

Michelle Malkin, the unfortunate and overmatched author of a self-loathing book that attempts to justify our World War II internment and robbery of Americans of Japanese heritage, became the harbinger of the next mucky smell of low tide. She raised the story— heretofore consigned largely to Robert Novak and everybody to his right— in that delightful, Teflon way of modern politics: ‘I’m not saying that John Kerry shot himself. But in the Swift Boat Veterans’ book, they ask whether or not his wounds were self-inflicted.’

If Ms. Malkin isn’t seen on television, or moving on her own power, in the next few days, it’s understandable. My colleague Mr. Matthews forced her to hang herself out to dry ten or eleven times (never prouder of you, Chris). He may have directed the momentum, but her wounds were ultimately, uh, self-inflicted.

As Chris rightly pointed out, nobody has produced an iota of evidence that John Kerry’s wounds were anything other than the result of combat. Even in the book, the references to it are speculative and without provenance. Ms. Malkin wouldn’t even go so far as to attribute the suspicion to herself. It was in the book.

More of Keith Olbermann carrying the water for the Kerry campaign. He is also sore that he got kicked off the Olympics coverage team.

The ass-kicking in ratings he has taken from FOX should have made him plenty sore already.

Olbermann is a moron, who's ratings have an impact similar to a gnat on an elephant's butt.

He also talked about Michelle on Countdown. I think it's nasty letter time to the management of MSNBC. They can't afford to lose any of us as viewers. There ratings are already in the basement.

Based upon Olbermann's idiotic personality, one can only conclude he had to wear a back-less leather pants outfit and head harness repeatedly in order to wind up with his own show.

Also from Keith's bs:

This is about the politics of the Smear Thrice Removed. I’m not saying this, but questions have been raised by others.

Sounds like the liberal media. "We aren't saying it, but Wilson says Bush blah blah blah. We aren't saying it, but some 9/11 families are saying Bush blah blah blah. We aren't saying it, but Michael Moore says blah blah BURP blah blah FART

Moron.

Olbermann is lucky he can compare his ratings favorably to McEnroe.

besides writing to msnbc, contact Investor Relations at General Electric their parent company and let them know you are not happy and concerned about MSNBC's dropping ratings...and resulting profits.....helps if you are a "stockholder",,,

I say it is almost high time to hit the advertisers. It has worked before it'll work again if we are persistent enough.

way to keep yourself journalistically neutral there Keith. No wonder people only remember you as "the guy who use to do Sportscenter with Dan Patrick"

IMHO, crissy mathews, and keith olberman must be the ONLY TWO PEOPLE in the WORLD, who have never seen the movie,"A Christmas Story" It's the one with the kid who wants a Red RYDER BB gun,("You'll shoot yer eye out, kid !!!") who on his first attempt to fire it, ends up with a "SELF-INFLICTED" wound.

And if THAT explanation is TOO HARD FOR THEM TO "GRASP",...

all crissy had to do was ask max cleland what a "SELF-INFLICTED" wound is......

Olbermann doesn't understand that he's not brilliant. He's a hack. He's irrelevant.

I am sure that late at night, Olbermann grits his teeth in his sleep because Craig Kilborn is leaving a high-paying network job on his own terms and returned to ESPN's 25th Anniversary celebration last week like a conquering hero. Meanwhile, there he is on MSNBC, toiling away for a 0.1 rating.

IIRC I was a freeper during the impeachment and we organized a campaign to GE and their stock actually dropped about 10%...I don't remember for sure because after the failed conviction of Clinton I dropped out of sight and just tried to forget that monumental failure of our leaders..maybe someone else here remembers....

Yeah, he was on it. NBC even put out a press release last year. Then they replaced him with Jim Lampley. Keith Olbermann probably pissed off the NBC execs like he did at ESPN.

Maybe Grant Wahl borrowed Keith's idea for Olympics coverage...though I can't imagine NBC being upset with such an idea.

Michelle Malkin was wrong to suggest that "self-inflicted wounds" meant Kerry deliberately shot himself. It's clear that what was meant was that Kerry inflicted the wounds on himself via accident or carelessness.

Nobody's perfect. She just made a mistake. It wasn't through bad intentions, but it was a mistake. OK?

Don't write them. Any letter indicating anger at Olbermann is an admission you watch Olbermann. Keep quiet and wait for his show to be cancelled.

Remember that Olbermann's personality is so charming that he was the only big-name ESPN alum not invited back to be part of last week's "Old School SportsCenter."

It's sad too, because he really can put on a good program, when he's not being a massive prick.
