Unfit for bookstores
Salon ^ | August 19, 2004 | Eric Boehlert

The Kerry campaign calls on a conservative publisher to withdraw a book after the Washington Post torpedoes the veracity of a Swift boat veteran.

The Kerry campaign has told Salon that the publisher of "Unfit for Command," the book that is at the center of the attack on Kerry's military record by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, is retailing a hoax and should consider withdrawing it from bookstores. "No publisher should want to be selling a book with proven falsehoods in them, especially falsehoods that are meant to smear the military service of an American veteran," said Kerry campaign spokesman Chad Clanton. "If I were them, I'd be ducking under my desk wondering what to do. This is a serious problem."

Even some uncomfortable Republicans might breathe a sigh a relief if "Unfit for Command" were to vanish from bookstores: "I don't think the Swift Boat Veterans are helping the Republican cause," Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Conn., remarked on CNN Thursday.

Proven falsehoods? What about Terry McCauliffe and half the Democratic leadership endorsing Michael Moore and his lying propaganda machine.

Funny, no-one has called for the withdrawl of any of Mikey Moore's books.
But that would be acting out of fairness and everyone knows the left doesn't like fair, they just want control.
Sheesh.

They'll do anything to keep people from making their own decisions.

...is retailing a hoax and should consider withdrawing it from bookstores.

So Kerry is saying that Ambassador Wilson's book as well as Michael Moore's books should be withdrawn from stores?

Ah, Eric Boehlert.

Here's an idea, Eric! Why don't we just round up all the copies of "Unfit for Command" and have a public bonfire?

What about Fehrenheit 9/11... The veracity of that has been demonstrated over and over again as being deceitful.

What? Don't recall that movie? It's the one the that you (John Kerry) borrowed the seven minutes ploy from.

Good God, what is up with these people? Do they suppose that military veterans are Gods who cannot be questioned? They are starting to scare me a bit with this attempt at censorship.

Never fear. All the flack they are stirring up is going to cause the American public to go snap up as many copies as they can. :) Dumb! LOL.

The WP story did not impugn the story of the SwiftVet. Rather, he contested the official account, as does the testimony of other participants, and suggested that Kerry himself might have had something to do with its wording. The logical flow of the article is that the making of the official account should be examined.

What did impugn the SwiftVet's story, however, was the WP article's headline. They completely misread the flow of the story and smeared the SwiftVet. It's Kerry's actions with regard to the official account that should be questioned at this point.
