Anti-GOP Group Publishes RNC Delegate List; Urges 'Local Contact'

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- The Washington, DC chapter of the leftist Independent Media Center has published a partial list of delegates to the Republican National Convention on its web site. The list includes names, home addresses, and telephone numbers as well as the hotel of each delegate for the New York convention. The IMC says that its objective is to "supply anti-RNC groups with data on the delegates to use in whatever way they see fit."

The group also aims to "facilitate making local connections," noting that many of the delegates are involved in politics and business on a town or county level.

It says that during the Republicans' "invasion of New York City ... the self-appointed managers of the world will be discussing their party platform of racism, imperialism and the violent suppression of human liberty."

The IMC lists numerous grievances against the Republican Party, key among them a terrifying increase in racism against Arabs and Muslims in the United States, claims of civil liberties infringements due to the passage of the USA PATRIOT Act, and "an accelerated continuation of the war against the poor and the oppressed."

It also accuses the Bush administration of seeking empire in the Middle East by the invasion of two sovereign states, Iraq and Afghanistan. American support of Israel is criticized along with the "bogus war on terror."

The IMC says that the information was obtained from a list that was released on the Internet earlier this summer by an "anonymous affinity group."

The activist group isn't alone in hoping to publicize information about GOP delegates.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe told the Associated Press, "These are the people who will ratify the Republican Party platform, and the American people have the right to know who they are."

He asked, "What do they have to hide?"

The RNC is leaving it up to individual states as to what information it will release about its delegates. Chairman Ed Gillespie said that security and confidentially figured into the policy. He noted that several web sites have suggested protesters should "show them the kind of welcome they can expect in New York."

New York City is bracing for a wave of protesters during the week of the convention. Law enforcement officials see a growing likelihood that some protesters may turn to violence. The FBI has been interviewing probable protesters to assess the potential for chaos.

A web site, www.RNCnotwelcome.org, is serving as a clearinghouse for information for convention protesters. It promotes a day of "non-violent civil disobedience and direct action" on August 31 that will culminate in a convergence on Madison Square Garden, the site of the convention. The aim is to "confront the Bush administration's unjust policies at home and abroad."

Protest organizers say that they will not be bound by permits issued by New York City and intend to fill the sidewalks and streets with their numbers. Most left of center groups will participate in demonstrations during the week, including the socialist-backed International ANSWER, Code Pink, and United for Peace and Justice. Several of the groups protesting are the beneficiaries of funding from the foundation controlled by Teresa Heinz Kerry through a shadowy labyrinth of non-profit organizations.

If I were a delegate and something happened to me, I would not only sue NYC because of Bloomberg's handling of this, I would sue every stinking group out there.

Of course, if that does not fly, pay back is a bi#@#.

And CBS News/New York Times has sent out a multi-page questionnaire to all delegates. I hope no one is foolish enough to respond. Why assist the enemy?

Heard on the radio today that some protesters are going to pose as volunteers on the street and give out fake maps and false directions to delegates.

In addition, some of the REAL 20,000 volunteers are Democrats who signed on because they wanted to help New York do a good job. The Republicans running things know this; apparently they couldn't get enough Republicans to fill the rolls.

What idiots!!!!!

All they've done is make it possible for terrorists, including our domestic liberal protesters, to compromise the security of the delegates.

The racism isn't the result of the RNC, it is the result of fear of the Arab militants, which they seem to have forgotten, have had it in for us for decades, not to mention a thousand or so years.

This is a classic demonstration of ignorance mixed with anger transferral... The same mentality that has resulted in racism against our peaceful Arabic citizens and residents.

My hate for the liberal left only grows stronger with every antic they pull... And my distaste for the news media grows as well as they fail to report the left's attempts to get our President and our representatives killed under the guise of "educational material."

At first I was very annoyed about all this. Now, I think that the backfire from of this will be devastating to the Left. It will be clear that this bozos are not fit to protect us when they hate so many of us as much as the terrorists do.

One can't help but wonder if most of these "peaceful" protestors would not openly rejoice if a terrorist attack hit NY and killed mostly conservatives. They are a scary bunch..angry, hateful and truly creepy.

Lib/dems are scummy people. I wonder how Americans will feel as they watch these Dems intimidate average citizens exercising their rights in the political process? I wonder what Americans will think if these libs bring the process to a violent end? Will Americans embrace libs who want to squelch the voices and impede the rights of conservatives? What will Americans do if the leftists create panic, anarchy, and destruction in NY?

I guess we shall see.

They can claim the 4th Amendment gives them the right to kill babies - they will probably make a claim that they can endanger the lives of the delegates, too.

There will be blood on the streets in NYC - I hope I'm wrong.

NPR did a lighthearted segment this morning about how the lefties will impersonate RNC officials and send delegates on wild goose chases, etc.

They also mentioned the delegate personal info, etc.

They made certain to give the web addresses, so the lefties can hook up for free rooms, access the delegate lists, etc.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe told the Associated Press, "These are the people who will ratify the Republican Party platform, and the American people have the right to know who they are."

When the chairman of the DNC endorses this kind of intimidation, it adds to my feeling that there will one day be an actual fighting war inside this country.

And the very reason that this convention should not have been held in NYC -- Tampa had the volunteers, security, and willingness to put on this Convention!

NYC under the RAT Bloomberg is a disgrace. BTW I know he reregisted as a Republican but he is still a RAT in my mind!

What a bunch of third-worlders! Shows you the democrats are made up of anti-american insurgents, most who should be arrested for plotting harm to public officials, and interfering with the political process of the United States of America.

All protesters should be checked for AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP - bet most are illegals.
