President Bush's campaign yesterday rolled out an upbeat, soft-focus ad using the Olympics as a backdrop. But, within hours, the focus shifted to an attack ad, assailing John F. Kerry's record on intelligence, that was supposed to remain under wraps until Monday.
The negative ad leaked out after it was mistakenly played on the Fox News Channel, giving Kerry strategists an opportunity to change the debate and challenge the president's charges three days before the spot receives widespread airing.
Noting the Democratic nominee's promise to reform the intelligence system, a narrator says: "Oh, really? As a member of the intelligence committee, Senator Kerry was absent for 76 percent of the committee's hearings. In the year after the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, Kerry was absent for every single one.

The Kerry camp disputed the charge of high absenteeism as "fuzzy math," saying the Bush team was counting only open hearings while ignoring hundreds of other meetings.hmmm... Methinks that if you include all those other meetings, sKerry's absentee percentage would only go up! Kerry would never go to a meeting with no photo ops!

Ok. Kerry is not only a dork, he's a tax payer welfare dork. He actually got paid for those missing days!

I guess this is his way of getting Dems to talk about it.

More left wing parnoia and distortion about content. Did you see Kerry, just the other day, saying the "other side is going more negative than ever in history" (parphrasing)?
Yeah, like every two years the Democrats don't accuse Republicans of murder, starving children, throwing old people out of nursing homes, lynching blacks, etc.
The left is such a caricature of itself!

The negative ad leaked out after it was mistakenly played on the Fox News Channel, giving Kerry strategists an opportunity.....to spin their butts off...... "He wasn't there because the CIA had him on a secret mission in Cambodia, where he was under fire by the worlds most dangerous assailants."

I guess Howie doesn't get out much. They've been playing an audio version of this ad on the radio for quite some time. Damn effective.
Nice to see nobody's arguing the substance of the ad, which is indisputable. The Dems can yelp about the "tone" until hell freezes over for all I care. They're not in any kind of position to play the Civility card.

"General Jackson's mother was a common prostitute brought to this country by the British soldiers! She afterward married a mulatto man, with whom she had several children, of which number General Jackson is one!!!" Actual campaign ad from 1824.
To: buzzyboop
Nice to see the ad is effective. Rather than dispute the content contained in the ad, the Democrats are screaming this ad even came out.

In 2004, exposing the truth is considered "negative" in the minds of the Democrats. This is why I think the Democrats have been yelping that Bush has been negative from day one. The Democrats cannot dispute the facts about themselves, so they resort to lame attempts at petty whining.
