Buchanan as host of "Scarborough Country": Better than Scarborough
msnbc.com | 8/12/2004

Pat Buchanan has a great panel on talking about McGreevey and his resignation.

I've watched this show this week with Buchanan as host, and he's done a much better job than Scarborough does. His interview with John O'Neill last night was the best I've seen.

I was thinking the same thing the last two nights - while watching Buchanan. Perhaps it was the topic that I was so interested in - but still - I think he has done a much better job than Joe S.

Pat has a hard time hiding his hatred for Bush.

Right! He really gave it to Steve Adubato, who was so concerned with McGreevey's psyche, and ignoring the underlying factors.

Buchanan last night on Kerry v Swifties was brilliant. Sorry I missed tonight's show, but here are some quotes I caught, from Deborah Norville on McGreevey. Scary!

Chrissy Gebhardt, gay daughter, says McGreevey has so much courage, such grace. Deborah Norville says he gave "an elegant, elegant speech today." He's revealed his "inner most angst", she said.

Richard Burns, gay activist says, "the closet is a prison, I thought his statement today was beautiful". He continues, "just think of the pain he's inflicted on his wife, and all because he was forced to live a lie". "I saw joy in McGreevey today".

We're getting some ferocious rain right now and since I have satellite TV, I can't see it.

Saw PB last night. He is good. Better than Scarborough.

Pat, agree or disagree with him, is an extremely smart and well spoken man. My father, a die hard democrat, has always respected him, even before Pat turned on Bush.

Pat has a hard time hiding his hatred for Bush.

Well, I haven't seen that the last two nights. Pat's a good interviewer. He asks important questions, and he puts some emotion into them.

I don't like Pat's politics, but I got tired of Scarborough's softness on Kerry.

He needed some time off to get his head straight.

Yeah, Buchanan is good because he doesn't screw around like most politicians. He gets right to the point and tells you how it is.

My uncle served in Vietnam, got his purple heart from shrapnel just like Kerry did. It's despicable and a discrace to all vets everywhere for these guys to question whether Kerry deserved his or not. If the same piece of schrapnel was a foot in another direction, an eye could have been lost. We should not be comparing the severity of injuries.

O'Neill should be focusing on Kerry's anti-war stance, not the nature of his injuries.

Remember that John Kerry slandered Pat Buchanan's Political father........NIXON........Pat Buchanan loved Richard Nixon and remembers the damage that Kerry inflicted....

John O'Neill is the REAL DEAL....

In fact somebody should get that stupid Kerry logo with "The Real Deal" on it and redoo it with O'Neill on it.

Pat has a dog in this fight.

During the Vet debate the other night, Lawrence O'Donell tried to implicate Pat since he was in the Nixon White House.

Buchanan's eyes turned to daggers for a few moments.

Pat's great as an interviewer. He really is. He belongs on television.

Unlike Chris Matthews, he let's people talk.

I noticed that, too - in fact I saw the clip 2 or 3 times - it was certainly Joe S. sitting behind the President.
