Newer irons are also coated with teflon and can also kill pet birds.

And I'm wearing a shirt with teflon it. Its great in that I can typically pull it out of the dryer and not have to iron, and if I do its one quick pass and its perfectly done.

Downside is that oil based stain (like salsa) are near impossible to get out.

Do you know when flouridation first began? Nineteen hundred and forty-six. 1946, Ichneumon. How does that coincide with your post-war commie conspiracy?

The toxins from "burning" the teflon might make him sick or worse.

Burning plasics are nasty stuff, teflon included. The only reason teflon is "dangerous" is that you put it on the stove. Especially if you have a gas stove, DON'T use a telfon pan for high heat searing of food. The teflon will burn.

My pancake griddle is teflon, because you don't cook pancakes on high heat, but I would never put a steak on a teflon pan. I'd want that pan very very hot.

I worry more about fluoride in the water supply.

YEP, that is for sure; if it is a hazardous chemical (a manufacturing byproduct) before they put into the water system why is it so good for you after they add to the water supply.

A cast-iron frying pan is a more effective device.

Teflon coatings tend to be used on aluminum cookware, which is lighter and, thus, less lethal.

I did the same thing for years with 100% cotton shirts. The only time they came out wrinkled was when I overloaded the dryer.
