An IDF soldier was very seriously injured this morning (Thursday) when an enemy sniper shot him in the head.
An IDF soldier was very seriously injured this morning (Thursday) when an enemy sniper shot him in the head. The injured soldier, still conscious, was flown by helicopter to the Soroka Hospital in Beersheva. The shooting took place during the ongoing IDF operation aimed at locating and eliminating weapons-smuggling tunnels operated by Palestinian Authority terrorists in the vicinity of Rafiach, along the Egypt-Israel border. Earlier in the day, Arab gunmen engaged the soldiers in an exchange of fire in the same area.
Also in Gaza, Arab terrorists opened fire at a vehicular convoy traveling on the Karnei-Netzarim Road. There are no reports of injuries.
On another front in the counter-terrorism war, soldiers operating in the Balata area of Shechem were uninjured in rock attacks. They fired at two of the attackers, injuring them. Earlier, IDF troops in Balata were involved in exchanges of gunfire with enemy gunmen and a fire-bomber was shot by troops after he hurled an incendiary device.
During the night, IDF troops arrested a Fatah terrorist in Tul Karem, and a second wanted terrorist, affiliated with the Islamic Jihad, was taken into custody near Shechem.
Border police were attacked with firebombs and rocks in the El-Azzariya area, near Maale Adumim, east of Jerusalem. There were no reports of injuries in those attacks.

Again, I ask Your Hand of Protection on our marines and other military who are in Iraq. Lord, be with this young soilder, Hold him in Your Loving and Comforting Arms. We ask that You bring him home safely and his family will be comforted by You and others who Know you. It is hard to understand why our good men and women are harmed by those who hate and want to destroy our honorable heros. Also, those who we do not know about, give them Your Strength and let them know they are loved, appreciated and so prayed for. We know your the Victor in this and in every situation.
