Dear HSLDA members and friends:
HSLDA Chairman and General Counsel Mike Farris is scheduled to appear on Fox News tomorrow, Thursday, August 5th at 11:40am ET. *
The U.S. Department of Education's National Center of Education Statistics estimates that there were 1.1 million homeschool children in 2003. This is a 29% increase from the last NCES estimate of 850,000 in 1999.
Everyone agrees that homeschooling is growing rapidly and homeschool graduates are succeeding in all walks of life. Homeschooling is a trend which is here to stay.
Mike Farris plans to comment on the growth and success of homeschooling in his Fox News appearance.
Sincerely,
Ian Slatter Director of Media Relations
* Please note that TV scheduling is subject to last minute changes.
The homeschooling trend is a good one, for the most part. Mike Farris deserves to be commended for forming an organization to support good parents who don't think that their children are suited to the public schools.
No child is "suited" for the public schools, because no child should be raised by the State.
It's really crazy that homeschooling has not gotten more attention from the media. over a million parents now homeschool and millions more are interested in learning about it. I think the problem is that the media(even conservative media) is centered in New York City and Wash DC. They really don't understand religious or heartland americans.
Thanks.
Here's some good news from PA:
