Florida GOP apologizes for warning
Tallahassee, FL, Jul. 30 (UPI) -- The Florida GOP has apologized for sending out a flier contradicting the views of Republican Gov. Jeb Bush on the upcoming elections.
The fliers were sent to Republican voters in southern and western Miami-Dade County advising them to use absentee ballots rather than trust the new touch-screen voting machines, The Miami Herald reported Friday.
Bush and Secretary of State Glenda Hood have been reassuring voters for months that the new voting machines now used in the state's 15 larger counties are reliable.

Florida needs to get over - ah - something...
I wouldn't use an electronic voting machine in a Democratically controlled Florida county either.
Why is it always Republicans apologizing? It would take an eon for Democrats to do all the apologizing they owe.
Of course, there's nothing I can do about the people who actually tally the paper ballots.
"Can chads fall off on absentee ballots while they're in the mail?"
Only from Dem ballots. For some reason the science is not quite sure of, Republican ballots are usually marked clearly and do not have hanging chads. Malicious slanderers attribute it to IQ differences of corresponding voter cohorts.
I like electonic voting... but I don't like the idea of no paper trail. If cash registers can keep a journal roll with a record of all transactions, why can't they do that for voting? You could trace the electronic votes that way then.
Forewarned is foramed Florida voters - make sure your vote gets counted - vote absentee.
Good point! I need to look into having my absentee ballot laminated before I mail it in. I'm thinking about writing on a corner of the ballot that any indentations on a chad are not to be taken as an indication of my intent--that I followed the rules and expect my ballot to be judged only within the bound of those rules. Do you think such steps might invalidate my ballot?
