Hey! You rode with Gracey. I think it might have been me that you met. You were with the camera? I had a cowboy hat and blonde hair and am from the town next to Crawford. If this is us, I am anxious to see your pics!

Still, the episode is nothing compared to what I said to Chet Edwards in the parking lot of a Baylor game.

Way to go! I am proud to be a central Texan from Bosque county too and I've had some choice words for Chet on a couple of occasions myself. The most inspiring thing though was when I was speaking at a dinner at TSTC where Chet and wife were guests. It was when he was running for re-election in 2000. My then 15 year old daughter nailed him on gun control and taxes right up on the platform in front of several folks after the dinner!

You've hit on one of my pet peeve issues - but no supporter of this Administration can balk at being confined to a "free-speech zone" when they want to do a little protesting.

I'm so sorry that I missed the action downtown! My friends and I rolled into Crawford at about 7:30, but we didn't know where to go; just looked for a bunch of cars. We found a lovely little parking space at the Peace House. I don't know how I missed the memo, but I had no idea about the Bush rally. We just parked and started walking, quickly spotting the movement toward the football field. We got there and went right into the movie-viewing area. We definitely got some stares and a few snotty comments (one of my friends was wearing a Bush shirt and was holding a couple of posters, which all the cameras wanted to see, of course!). I kept thinking, "Where the heck are the FReepers?!" There were a few Republicans scattered around, but it was a mostly leftie crowd. It was definitely a lonely feeling. : ) Were y'all in there when the speakers began? My favorite part was when someone led a prayer to "MotherFatherGod", whatever the heck THAT is! Well, we finally spotted the mass of GOPers in the parking lot, so we went out there and held up our signs and welcomed those coming in. At that point, we were no longer able to get as close to the movie area with our signs. My two friends without signs eventually went in to watch the movie; they came back 15 minutes later after seeing all they could stand. One said that it was like a parody; like maybe it used to be a documentary, but had become a silly parody of itself.

Anyway, I didn't really know if other FReepers were there. I met hocndoc, but she was the only one. She said there were others, though, so that's cool. You and I may have crossed paths at some point before y'all headed back to town. Thanks for coming up from Austin. I hope you had a great time. I sure did!

We met last night! You were the only FReeper I know for certain I met. You were nearby when I was speaking with that cute guy from a conservative radio station out of San Antonio (1200?). I wasn't familiar with his station, so I was pretty leery about talking with him, but you knew of the station. He showed you his ID, though, to prove he was who said. That was funny.

My friends and I got a copy of your "F9/11" literature. One of them made off with it, though, so I haven't read it yet. On the bright side, I just came from Target, where I was perusing the book/magazine aisle and what did my little eyes spot but "Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man". I sure wish I'd read it before last night's Moore-on Fest. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Rats might not have liked the contents. Should make for interesting bedtime reading (hope it doesn't give me nightmares).

I'm glad y'all were there last night. Perhaps we'll see each other again soon at a FReeping. As long as there are Rats, there will be FReepers!

I don't know how I missed the memo

You know, that really was the problem...there wasn't time to get a memo out! So none of us knew where to go or what to expect.

Actually, this was the 1st time I've ever FReeped! I kept looking for people who 'looked' like FReepers...but anyone I asked didn't even know about FR. The carloads of people that came from Austin were part of the Travis Co. Republicans, Young Republicans, Women Republican and Town Hall groups. Besides Gracey (who is all of these things) was the only "full-time" FReeper besides me. I think I was the only one that came solely as a FReeper.

We left the movie area before any prayers or speakers, thank goodness...I have a weak stomach for that kind of thing. It was bad enough to hear the music (?) that was being played before hand.

Hopefully we'll have plenty of opportunities to FReep in the future!!

I have pictures, but found out I have to have them on a website of some kind in order to post them here. I'll work on that tomorrow.

To: TXBlair; Gracey; verona

Jeff Bexler (or Bexlar?) of WOAI 1200. I was mixing him with Jeff Bolton, who sounds much older. Bexler argues with Bolton on the afternoon drive home, and gives the news reports in the morning. They were discussing us this afternoon, although I only caught a few minutes.

[Good grief, the news radio *news reporter* is my son's age! (and he looked just as scruffy) Between that and the beautiful women of Austin's Young Conservative Texans, I felt older than ever before. Since I know I'm really only about 20, how did I get a 27 year old son?]

It was good to see you there, too. My friend is the one who was smart enough to make 149 copies of the NFRW paper.

Gracey was there, with Verona. I ran into them at the T shirt store.
