Saddam Hussein is spending his time in solitary confinement writing poetry, gardening, reading the Qur'an and snacking on American muffins and cookies. One of his poems is about his arch-enemy George Bush. The intriguing glimpse of the former dictator's daily routine as he awaits trial on charges of war crimes and genocide was given to the Guardian yesterday by Iraq's human rights minister, Bakhtiar Amin, who visited Saddam in detention on Saturday.
Mr Amin, a longtime Iraqi human rights campaigner who had family members killed by the former regime, said he could not bring himself to speak to Saddam but observed that he was "in good health and being kept in good conditions".
However, Mr Amin said the former president "appeared demoralised and dejected".
Oh my, what a sensitive guy 'ol grampa Saddam is..... I could just imagine how his poetry reads ...
Hmmmmm, let me take a stab at it, Here I sit all deposed while GW bush thumbs his nose The Shiites and Kurds all tucked in their graves but the media reports daily only Abu Graib The WMD's they will never find so coalition forces Kiss my behind
Good. Give him lots of muffins. Fatten him up for the hanging.
Hmmmmm, let me take another stab at it, the stanzas got cruched,
Kiss My behind , by Saddam Hussein
.......Here I sit all deposed
while GW bush thumbs his nose,............
.......The Shiites and Kurds
all tucked in mass graves..............
.......but the media reports daily
only Abu Graib...............................
.....The WMD's they will never find
so coalition forces........................
......... Kiss my behind
Next week, he'll be penning songs for Guns n' Roses.
Give him "meadow muffins". He can fertilise his garden with the ones he doesn't eat.
Violets are blue
I used to be an evil dictator
But now I'm a confirmed Bush-hater
Go Kerry.
A damned good playwright as well. His work received glowing reviews in all the Iraqi papers, if I recall ;)
Oh do you know the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffin man. Oh do you know the muffin man who lives at an undisclosed location.
These muffins taste just like socks
How I wish I had my J&B on the rocks
I can't give orders I am so blue
I miss raping women and killing kids too
Those Satanic Americans my palaces defile
While the real President sits here with no smile.
Just when I cry and think I will never have controlla
I have to laugh - they will never find my smallpox and ebola!
ROFLMAO
Huh. A short time back the guy was living in a hole in the ground. He's gotta be more comfortable now.
I think I remember Saddam had also written some bad romantic novel in the late 1990s. Military setbacks clearly stimulate the writer in him, so I can barely wait to read the "War and Peace"-like saga he's written during the Iran-Iraq war.
I torture all my victims, I give them acid baths.
I feed them to the shredders. Am I happy with all that?
So I grab their families off the street and do the same to them.
No matter the family says, their fates are very grim.
I love to torture cats and dogs, so family pets die, too!
And when the family all is gone, I take their houses, too!
But most of all I hate George Bush, so listen very well.
Vote Kerry/Edwards in '04 and send George Bush to hell!

Maybe he can get a column in the "USA Today" right next to Michael Moores
