Yet when it comes senseless killing of animals for some male gratification,

Hey, that's a sexist remark. Here in rural Ohio, lots of females hunt for the gratification of it as well. Doesn't float my boat, but at least it helps keeps the overpopulated deer off the roads and aids in the safety of myself and my family who drive these roads.

But then I guess I'm one of those warped individuals who puts human life above animals.

You just asked the question I was going to ask. 300 bears in Maryland? Reminds me of a song:

"If you go out in the woods today
You better go in disguise........"

I disagree with the assertion that there's nothing wrong with hunting animals for sport, if it includes the implication that reasons of sport are alone sufficient cause to kill one of God's creatures. Without a motive that includes self-defense or hunger, it is not justified to kill any life. Life is the major part what distinguishes us from the soil; to be indifferent to the fact of life is to be indifferent to an essential element of one's own humanity. I do not think that intellect alone sufficiently distinguishes the human being from the dead elements - there are damaged human beings without greater intellect than animals whose lives are not considered worthless.

My neighbors in New Jersey had the 'fun' of a bear hunt being banned for years due to "only 300 bear" numbers being quoted.
Guess what?
There were actually several thousand bear.
And now they're eating people's pets, and chasing children into houses.
It's only a matter of time before little Mary or Todd gets to be bear lunch.
What would you say then?
And you would consign Maryland to this as well?
The pets and children being chased happened in Greenwood Lake by the way.

Great minds think alike?

I do get annoyed at people who seem to assume hunter means "Male". Bow opening day is sacred to me as I shish-kabob some long legged rat that has been spending the year eating out of my friends corn fields and jumping in front of cars.

Mmmmm and it is some good eating too.

Are you willing to write a check for the management and conservation of animals in your area?

"and avoid humans unless humans move into bear country and leave food out to attract bears."
Food can be pets, and children.
Bears don't stick to wooded areas, or don't you know?
They will travel dozens of miles per day when foraging, and may not even inhabit the same den every night.
'Bear Country' is really a misnomer.

" As was done in Yellostone, bears can be trained to stay away from Human food. "

No, what they did at yellowstone was remove nuisance bears, and pretty much get rid of all the gas stations in the surrounding areas to make the place harder to get to.
Yellowstone is a Leftist Elite success story, if you bar humans from seeing a cherished national park, you effectively have 'saved' nature.
At the expense of nature as per destructive hyperfires.

I can hear the sound of female hunters being dissed by some PETA type at 1000 yards. But thanks for thinking of me.:)

What is left of the animals in America should be preserved, not destroyed.

ok, there's the key word right there. "PRESERVED". Not managed or conserved, but "preserved". That is a GodWord among the environazi Pantheon. You just slipped up.

I commend you on having managed to escape the lightning for over a year, but I am smelling ozone about now.

The problem with this kind of thought is that nature has proven that only the weakest and sick become victims of predators (human and otherwise) plus natural disasters such as fire.

Yellowstone proved that when the massive wildfires (enviros called Reagan an animal and tree killer), that the strongest and most healthy will survive. The most intelligent and strongest bears will not be found by the hunters. Thereby, keeping a heathier DNA line.

Don't fall into the mindset that somehow humans are so omnipotent that we can actually destroy the earth, animals, ozone etc etc by ourselves. That is the height of human arrogance. The Bears will survive, and a few hunters will get a trophy. There are much more important thnings for you to worry about. Like your own survival from the Islamofascist.

In my experience, being on a hunt, even for moose meat for the family, contains various elements, including some which you might consider atavistic and uncultured, immoral even.

There is ample time for reflection while hunting, ample time to ponder the act you are hoping to perform - the killing of your prey. I know no hunters who do not reflect upon the nature of the killing act.

But there is also the thrill of spotting your quarry, and the focussed intent on aiming and and firing your rifle in cold blood at an innocent animal. We are complex creatures, and hunting helps keep your life 'integrated' and 'authentic', imho.

Hunting is a humbling experience, in all the good ways; it can help make you a better person.

Damn, we need a nationwide troll hunt. If we don't thin their numbers and they keep on spawning like this, they'll starve in the winter.

Ok, I couldn't care less about that. I just want to kill trolls.
