A New York-based group that monitors the plight of Falun Gong practitioners in China has released frightening photographs of 36-year-old Gao Rongrong whose face was horribly disfigured from seven hours of electric shocks.
The Falun Dafa Information Center says that in addition to enduring shocks with a high voltage baton, Ms. Gao had been beaten by security guards in the Longshan Forced Labor Camp where she has been detained since last July.
The information center described the severe abuse Ms. Gao was subjected to in May of this year: “Those detained with Gao in the labor camp say she sustained burns on her face, head and neck, which caused her face to swell and become disfigured. Her face was covered with blisters, and her hair was matted with pus and blood. Gao could only open her eyes a crack because of her swollen face and her mouth was severely swollen and deformed.”

Ms. Gao apparently tried to escape her tormentors by jumping from a second floor office window. She was seriously injured in the attempt. The photographs of Ms. Gao were taken while she was hospitalized.
“There are over 30,000 documented cases of severe abuse and torture of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Most reports come from eyewitnesses who were detained in labor camps and then later released or escaped, while some originate from information provided by family members who, on rare occasions, are able to capture photos of their injuries or in cases of those tortured to death, the corpse,” the information center said in a statement.
Ms. Gao was an accountant at a fine arts college in Shenyang City who lost her job after former Chinese president Jiang Zemin imposed a ban on Falun Gong and instituted harsh measures to suppress the meditation practice.

That is just awful. At first I was a bit bothered by there not being a "graphic" warning, but now that I think about it, this is something that people need to see.
Pardon my ignorance, but the author makes it sound like this forced labor camp is well known. Is this a government-run labor camp, and if so, how did Falun Gong take over since the Chinese government has banned it?
This is real torture. Not that Abu Graibe nonsense.

It's not just her face. It's her eyes. When I first looked at them, I thought she was dead. They didn't just disfigure her face, they killed her spirit.
Umm, she is a member of Falun Gong who was imprisoned by the communist Chinese government for her spiritual beliefs. The Chinese government did this to her!
Probably walked into the shop foreman's office at the DVD manufacturing plant where she works as a slave laborer and asked for a raise.

OTH, if this is the price some people have to pay for our "cheap" labor and cheap goods, well. . . .
The government did this to her --- yet we're doing all we can to prop up this Communist government by exporting all the American jobs we can to it so it won't collapse.
Apparently the Falun Dafa movement of physical exercise that cultivates spirituality is such a threat to China's very existence NOT! Last time I went to the city they were meditating outside the Chinese Embassy. If the Chinese coukld, they'd firehose them into the sewer I'm sure.
So-called "free trade" isn't helping anyone but those in the government stay in power --- it encourages this type of control --- if the people ever became free they wouldn't be such government slaves able to make the Walmart products so cheap.
We have Falun Gong people exercising on the campus of the UWashington. They bring their kids and some posters about the movement.
Now, could be, they are up to no good and this is all a smokescreen. Or, maybe they are just a bunch of people who'd like to do their thing w/o the government saying they can't.
Whether it's a religion, or an exercise movement, or a group of people who like to hang out together, I can't imagine what this woman did to deserve this.
Right.
That is the objective. Destroy and torture the body until you kill the spirit.
