I remember Ben Affleck was doing a blitz across the country in 2000 imploring people to get out and vote for Gore. I saw him on talk shows and heard radio interviews with him using his celebrity to get out the vote for Gore.
Smoking Gun reported a few weeks after the election that Affleck himself had not voted. When contacted Affleck responded with the usual "I didn't have time".
I always suspected that some big time studio boss ordered his stable of actors to go on the campaign trail. These Hollywood actors/actresses are, for the most part, dumb as rocks and self absorbed. I doubt they would be putting in the time unless there was something in it for them.
Is this an effort to diminish the great speaking part that was awarded to Ronald P. Reagan, as part of his come-back? Have these people NO compassion for those who are down-and-out?
Maybe they can get Linda Ronstadt to speak as well.
