Amber Alert for Columbia dropped
Eagle 93.9

Law enforcement officers have ended their search for a missing Columbia girl. Authorities issued an Amber Alert shortly before noon today in response to a report of an apparent abduction on Providence Road. That alert has now been cancelled.

Columbia police say the girl was actually a woman. The woman and the alleged suspect are now talking to police.

The whole thing started when an employee of Oasis Landscape and Irrigation was cutting the grass at this Hardee’s Restaurant when she heard the missing little girl scream. The woman told investigators she saw a homeless man grab the little girl by her hair and pull her toward the creek. The woman then ran into the restaurant and tried to get some help. Shift leader April Kelly called 911. "She came screaming through the building asking for a manager. She was all crying and her face was red. I asked her what happened and she said that one of the homeless people that live in the creek had taken a little girl down there and was dragging her through the pond and asked if there was anybody that could help. So, some of the guys that work here went down there to try and see if they could find her, but nobody winded up finding her," says Kelly.

Nearly 100 law enforcement officers searched on foot, in the air and with the help of dogs.
