Senator Lincoln figures that Arkansas voters will not remember in November

By Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman, American Family Association

Arkansas Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor recently voted to legalize homosexual marriage. Now, they will tell you that is not true. But if you take away all the rhetoric and put the issue of their voting against the Federal Marriage Amendment down to the bottom line, that is clearly what they did. They opposed marriage as being only between one man and one woman.

They voted to use America's children as guinea pigs in a grand social experiment making homosexual marriage the equal of a marriage between a man and a woman. And they voted to allow one activist federal judge to overturn the marriage laws in 50 states.

Why would two "conservative" Democratic senators from Arkansas vote to legalize homosexual marriage in a conservative state where voters are expected to overwhelmingly approve a state constitutional amendment defining marriage as only between a man and a woman? Let me explain. Since Sen. Lincoln is up for re-election in November and Sen. Pryor is not, I will use her to answer the question.

Sen. Lincoln's first loyalty is to Sen. Tom Daschle and the Democratic Party, not to the voters of Arkansas. You see, she has to face Sen. Daschle and the Democratic Senatorial leadership every day and she has to face the voters in Arkansas only once every six years. So when it comes time for her to choose between the two in a close and controversial vote, Sen. Daschle and the party will win every time.

Arkansas voters forgive and forget. Sen. Daschle doesn't. So if Sen. Lincoln wants to get prized committee appointments from Sen. Daschle, she must do as he says. And if she wants to get millions of dollars to spend at re-election time, she must play ball with the most liberal Democrats in the U.S. Senate. After all, the name of the game in politics is to get re-elected. That goal always takes precedent over everything else in a good politician's life.

Second, if she is confronted with her vote to legalize homosexual marriages, she can always explain her vote in a confusing manner. The voters are too dumb to understand what her vote against the FMA really means. She can, and will, tell Arkansas voters that she was voting for state’s rights. That will play well in Arkansas. Truth is that she voted to do the exact opposite. She voted to refuse to let voters in Arkansas have a voice in the legalization of homosexual marriage. The Federal Marriage Amendment would have allowed Arkansans to vote if she and the other liberal senators had allowed the FMA to pass.

Next, her vote for homosexual marriage will mean she will get hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars from liberal sources in her re-election bid. She can use that money to run thousands of TV spots telling the voters in Arkansas how much she has done for their state. Her re-election should be a shoo-in. She is running against an unknown opponent who will receive little, if any, money from the Republican party. She will be able to outspend him 10-1. The liberal media will give her a big, big push. She feels safe.

No doubt this is her thinking: the people may be upset a little right now, but by election time they will have forgotten her vote to legalize homosexual marriage. They will only remember her name and the fact that she is their Senator, and they will vote to send her back to Washington for six more years. Those who are upset with her vote will not work, give nor vote. That is her thinking, and I must confess that if history is any indication, she is probably right.

Sen. Lincoln, I tip my hat to you. You are a very shrewd politician. Your re-election should be a shoo-in.

Unless, that is, the voters remember in November.

Bill Clinton lost his native state of Arkansas in 2000 for immorality in public office.

Blanche Lincoln deserves the same respect for relegating the sanctity of the man-woman marriage to a homosexual trist.

Dump her, Arkansas!

A little state that could make a big difference in the swing vote on November 2nd (again) - ping.

(Both Arkansas senators remain faithful to Tom Daschle and crew - forsake the family - and love those queers.)

Please ping your Arkansas FReepers if you know any.

"No doubt this is her thinking: the people may be upset a little right now, but by election time they will have forgotten her vote to legalize homosexual marriage."

The Arkansas voters are no different than those from any other state. Sandwich in a few world series games, the Superbowl, Rality TV and several months of soap operas and they will forget anything - anything except what the mainstrean media runs past them day after day.

Look at 9-1-1.

Its like it never happened except for Ridge rantings about different colors. They have forgotten who attacked us and why, and the reasons we went into Afghanistan and Iraq in the first place.

Handled properly, the American voter is like a sheep. And Demonrats know it.

Unfortunately, Arkansas voters suffer from a few "ailments" that will prevent them from voting rightly this november - especially in this very important Senate race:

1. Apathy - lots of voters in Arkansas don't care enough to pay attention to the issues.

2. Handouts - too many farmers and Delta handout whores who live from government check to government check - no-one can out give or promise more than Blanche.

3. WAY too many Yellow Dog DemocRATs - "My grandpa voted Democrat, My Dad voted Democrat, and I'm votin' Democrat". Thankfully, this problem is slowly fading. Still way too many of these voters though. They will listen raptly when you tell them about Blanche's record - and how she supports everything they are against - and then they ask what opposition she has - and then say they can't vote for a Republican.... ARrrrggghhhh....

It is truly amazing how many good, Christian, God-fearing people succumb to this braindead mindset - especially in the South, and especially among Black voters.

I have a good friend who has a PhD in chemistry and owns his own pharmacy. He is a good Christian man, extremely intelligent, hates homosexuality, and has raised a family and now has grandchildren - all of whom he would go to his grave to prevent from having to be exposed to a land where homosexuals are given equal legal standing with the man-woman institution of marriage.

EXCEPT when protecting marriage comes to VOTING AGAINST A DEMOCRAT. All reasoning, logic, conviction, and moral teaching fly out the window as if throwing out a red hot iron from a baby crib.

It TRULY is amazing the moral lock the Democratic party has on so many (otherwise) wonderful people.

Have you got any good ideas how to keep such treacherous senatorial misconduct before the voters and holding them accountable in November?

IF we had a religious establishment in this country with backbone that follows scripture - and we don't - and if we had a mainstream media which was at at least impartial - and we don't - and if we had a reasonably intelligent, concerned electorate - and we don't - then any one of those outlets would keep the awareness of this issue in the forefront.

Don't rely on the Republican establishment. They were probably all quaking in their boots in the Senate over being forced to make a decision at all on this issue in the first place. They certainly aren't to raise it on their own and risk the wrath of the politically correct thought police and the Sodomitic Stormtroopers. Only the Republicans in the House have any guts, and they are continually being undercut by obstructionist RINOs in the Senate whose sole concern is perpetuation of their perks, salaries and offices and not crusading for controversial issues (which REALLY shouldn't be controversial at all.)

Probably taking out adds in the local papers and posting to the internet and sending messages and calling those few conservative media organs there - like FoxNews, Sean Hannity, Mark Levyn, Laura Ingraham, Monica Crowley, etc. you might be able to keep it in the forefront of public view.

Perhaps if you show up at political rallies and get involved yourself locally with the Republican Party you might be able to have some local impact.

Remember - decisions are really made at the primary level. Unless you are registered as a Republican, contribute to and support conservative Republicans in the primaries, we will see the Republican Pary gradually evolve into a version of "Democratic Light" as people like Chrissie Whitman, Lincoln Chaffee, John McCain, Olympia Snowe and Tom Kean reverse all the effort expended by Ronald Reagan years ago to save the party from the leftists in it.

As they say in politics, nothing happens by happenstance. These RINOs are there to protect the status quo for the liberal elites that run this nation & the world. As Dasshole does why then doesn't Frist or any pubbie? ONLY when you start voting outside of this "Two-Party Cartel" will we the middle class people who pay the taxes get our issues addressed correctly rather than a thin bone thrown our way at election time.

Homosexual Agenda Ping - Arkansas, Elected Officials, and voting for homosexual marriage. I hope this gets pinged to the Arkansas freepers.

Vote the bas***ds out! All of them, everywhere! RINOS and "big tent" GOPism are parts of the recipe for defeat. If a "win" means becoming Democrats lite, why bother?

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

RINOS and "big tent" GOPism are parts of the recipe for defeat. If a "win" means becoming Democrats lite, why bother?

Please remember something important: Most all RINOs are from places where decent, conservative, hard-working, free enterprise, anti-enviro-whacko people have tried to get at least a nominal Republican, because the alternative was an ultra-liberal Clymer Rat. I have two Rat senators here from WA, one is Osama Mama Patty Murray, an embarassment not only to the people of this state, but to the whole nation. The other is Maria Cantwell, who pledged as collateral for loans her falling RealNetworks stock to buy Slade Gorton's Senate seat in 2000. The giant debts she incurred were paid off by Hillary throwing fund raisers for her the week she got to Washington, D. C., and now the Beast owns her, lock, stock and porkbarrel.

I'd gladly trade either of them for a McCain, a Specter, or even one of Maine's two RINO senators. More often than not, the RINOs end up voting for a Republican president's court picks, and tax cuts. The only time they "go off the reservation" is when pushed on the social issues. RINOs know that they have to walk a fine line in states with extremely liberal populations, so they have to talk pro-abortion, while voting anti-abortion in non-obvious ways.

Until we can change the hearts and minds of those members of the mushy middle who sometimes hear the siren song of the Left, we will have to tolerate RINOs. It's much better to try to oust Rats in states with truly conservative voter bases. Then the RINOs won't make any difference.

TYHis Amendment is a FARCE and is designed to actually give the power to the Arkansas legislature (led by communists) to re-write the marriage laws.

In Arkansas it is CLEARLY stated that Marriage is the Union of a MAN and a WOMAN. It is also clearly stated, that Arkansas will NOT recognize any other bastardization of marriage.

** IF ** this were a above the board and HONEST Amendment to add to the Arkansas Constitution, it would SIMPLY state, that marriage was between a man and a woman PERIOD!

without all that extraneous garbage that gives all the power to the leftist legislators to change at will.

READ IT!

I'm certainly not advocating cutting off the nose to spite the face! I'd rather have (all things being equal) a RINO than a Democrat. But I'm getting sickened by RINOS such as all the Northeast RINOS. McCain is also rather tiresome. The more Republicans the better, and the more real conservatives, the better.

Another thing about RINOs, they ensure that Congressional Committees are chaired by Republicans, there's value in that. Paradoxically, the better true conservative Republicans do across the country, the harder it is for RINOs. People in the RINO-electing states start freaking out when conservative Republicans are in power, and they will fall for leftist Rat rhetoric about "taking back Congress".

Moral of the story, you folks out there in flyover country get some staunch conservative Republicans in office, and the RINOs will be replaced by ineffectual, whiny, but uber-liberal Rats.
