A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Bush - Cheney 04

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

Without A Bumper Sticker

Read: Acts 4:5-22

They saw the boldness of Peter and John . . . . And they realized that they had been with Jesus. —Acts 4:13

Bible In One Year: Psalms 16-17; Acts 20:1-16

While driving in rush-hour traffic one day, I found myself behind a car with a bumper sticker. It had a yellow smiley face on it with these words: SMILE—JESUS LOVES YOU.

Suddenly another car squeezed in front of the“smiley”car, forcing the driver to hit the brakes. With that, he shook his fist angrily, displaying anything but a smiley face. I felt ashamed, until I remembered my own impatience as a driver. The incident reminded me that our actions and reactions, more than the display of a sticker on our car, show whether we really know the Lord Jesus.

Acts 4 tells us that Peter and John faced opposition from local rulers, elders, and scribes as they proclaimed the good news of Christ. But their reaction caused their opponents to start thinking. Even though Peter and John were not highly educated, the people marveled at their bold witness and realized that these two men had been with Jesus. There was no need for a bumper sticker on the apostles’ donkey. Their words and actions said it all.

Do you feel too untrained or timid to be a witness for God? If you’ll spend time getting to know Jesus, He will empower you to impress others with Himself. You’ll have boldness—without a bumper sticker. —Joanie Yoder

For me ’twas not the truth you taught,
To you so clear, to me so dim;
But when you came to me, you brought
A deeper sense of Him. —Clelland

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYBODY!

I was working on a piece IO wanted to post here, my thoughts and questions about something that has been bothering me for the last three years.

This is also getting me really disgusted!

It's about President Bush and the looney leftists who seem to really disppise and distain him. I can't understand why!

I know lots of folks here tell my thier opinion on that thought.

But I'm bothered by that, and am afraid all this hatred will lead to tragedy for his family and his supporters as well as for this country.

According to other thread that I've seen here for the last two or three months, I fear it's already starting!

My beef is, here is a MAN who has given so much if himself for his country and who, in my opinion, is a MORAL GIANT. And who does not move to whatever way the political winds go. His only concern right now is for the safety and security of this country that he and I love.

Everybody keeps moaning annd groaning about how he doesn't bash oponents of his policies or those who have vilified him from Whoopi Goldberg to Hillary Clinton.

He doesn't stoop to thier level, (he can't stoop THAT low)

I believe he has read the letter of St. Paul that says you should be kind to those who persecute you (I know, we shouldn't let them step all over me) this is different. because St. Paul also says the by showing your enemies kindness is like heaping hot coals in thier heads.

This is what President Bush is doing!

My break is over so I'll have to post this as the first half and post the second half later.

MORAL GIANT

There in my opinion is the problem, not to us but to the liberal left.
President Bush openly said during his campaign that Jesus Christ was his Savior.
Christians loved to hear this, the left hated it and criticzed him for it.

We as Christians stand up for Christ and Morality,
the left considers them selves all powerful and all knowing.
They will not admit that a power greater than themselves exists.

We beleive that this Nation was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We are a Christian Nation as the Founding Fathers intended it to be.
The Constitution is not a living document that should be changed as the wind blows.
As the Church cannot change with the blowing winds, it will destroy the very foundation of it.
Just look what is happening to the different churches in this country.

When you remove the very foundation of a building it is sure to collapse.

When you remove God from society it will also collapse.
It started in the early 60's with the removal of Prayer in schools,
and still continues today with the liberal activist judges, homosexual agenda, porn agenda etc...

When they succeed, anarchy will ensue, and our Great Christan Nation will no longer exist.

I beleive that is their agenda, and the hate that is being displayed toward Christians and the President.

"Do you feel too untrained or timid to be a witness for God?"
"Actions speak louder than bumper stickers."

I had occasion to put this into play on Wednesday when I stopped to get the weekly paper at the gas station near me.

There was another car parked diagonally toward the curb of the building - the driver inside, a woman (perhaps in her late 50's) in the shaded front seat, and a small child (almost 2?) in a child seat on the back seat, behind the woman.

Picture the fact it was noon on a cloudless, 90-degree + day...and the woman the whole time was chatting on her almighty cell phone.

While because of the car's position, The Talker was in shade, the baby had full sun beating through the back window glass on its head, and slumped forward, trying to get relief.

I simply could not "mind my own business," and pointed out to the woman the baby was in the full hot sun.
Her reply was the mother would be out soon.

That was not the case, though, as I finished getting the paper, so I approached the window (gal still on her phone) and said firmly, "That child has the sun beating down on its head through glass and is baking - if the delay will be short, the least you could do is take it out of the seat and hold it in the shade where you are."

With no way to wiggle off the reasonable hook (no vilification - no 'you stupid woman' - no "Get off the phone, you.."), she finally responded -- as I sat in my car (right in front of and facing her) and stared at her, making sure she complied....

There was no question of my allowing that child to be so thoughtlessly harmed...and I would have further followed through had she balked another minute.

Beautifully, wonderfully stated, Rus....

The very first official act of the Continental Congress
was a call to prayer.

This occurred just after receiving the news that British troops had attacked Boston.
On September 6, 1774 the first resolution ever made by the Continental Congress said:
"Tuesday, September 6, 1774. Resolved, The Rev. Mr. Duche be desired to open the Congress
tomorrow morning with prayers, at the Carpenter's Hall, at 9 o'clock."

(The Journals of the Continental Congress 1774-1789, Washington DC)

It is truly unbeleiveable how people treat their kids these days.
There was a story just yesteray that a child died when it was left in a car for 3 hours.

Good for you LadyX

Love your Profile Page, Your Honor; especially this:

"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that
this great nation was founded, not by religionists
but by Christians, not on religions,
but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

For this very reason people of other faiths
have been afforded asylum, prosperity,
and freedom of worship here.

Here's the second half of my rant!

from post #6

RE:#7:

THANKS (((TM))))!

Well. what I was going to go on to say is, Ever since 1994 when I took a trip to Italy with my church, I have been drawn back to my church and to my roots in my faith in God and in Jesus Christ. And slowly I was changing my ways. I felt good to be free of my liberal and sinful life style.

That is when I started seeing Clinton as you did, wothout those rose-colored glasses I was wearing all throughtout the time I was in that demon of a party.

I couldn't wait til 1996 when the election of that year came anr we would get rid of Clinton, little did I know just how popular (and how good a liar) he was!

So I sweated out the next four years, thanking God that he was term limited.

When George W. Bush came along, and unashamedly pronounced his faith in Jesus Christ, I just knew he had to be president. And I still feel that way. I don't get it!

These people so hate him that they don't see what I or you or others see, they either can't or they won't!

Is it power?

Is it the "R" behind his name?

Is it a misguided notion that he is the anti-christ?

or are they nervous about the fact he took action when we were attacked on 9/11/01?

(I for one am glad he did, what he did was something that should've been done a long time ago.

I'm safer with President Bush and Vice-President Cheney as well as Sec. of Defense Rumsfeld and others in charge. and if my co-workers and other liberal friends can't understand that, then they won't understand anything.

Then to find out I seem to be the only member of my family who likes Bush. They other can't stand him. I feel lonely, but I believe I'm making the right choice.
