I know that. But Bush is who they want to blame.
Probably started by illegal aliens that Bush won't stop from coming across the border. There you got your way.It is Bush's fault.
Unitl 2 years ago, we lived in Newhall right at the Newhall Pass....the local motto was "The wind doesn't blow - it sucks".
Whenever the hint of a Santa Ana kicked up, it compressed right there at the pass and blew like all hell.
Valley Oaks is a nice place. When they say desert, it isnt all sand.....that scrub brush covers the place...when you get strong winds, all those homes are in danger.
there is a fire in griffith park!
Illegal immigration is a broad issue that I don't have time for tonight. As for Bush's temp worker program, it is something, but won't pass. His forebears did nothing. They didn't all pile in since Jan 2001.
Got to run.
Too bad about the fire, but this is California.I was just giving you a hard time.Wasn't being serious. This time.
As of a couple minuts ago....evacuating Boy Scout Camp...70 kids walking out of the area on foot.
Good grief! Griffith Park!
If the 3-points fire has grown to 250 acres, KABC-TV-7 has just shown a shot from it. Highly highly combustible area and the winds are whippin'.
four helos and four tankers, 400+ firefighters on scene
called the Pine Incident fire
Griffith Park is nearly out....
the helos have a spot to reload water next to the Hollywood Sign....
And the Santa Anna sucked right over here to Bakersfield!
No problem. It's so rainy in Alabama that gasoline can't be lit with a torch. ; )
KCAL-9 at 10 p.m.
1850+ acres and growing
area has not burned since 1924
300 year old oak trees threatened
firefighters expect to be chasing this one 6 or 7 days
TUESDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY... HIGHS 93 TO 105... SOUTHWEST WINDS AROUND 20 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON.
Hi everyone,
Here is an update on our fire situation.
We are still at home. The fire and smoke calmed down enough last night that the girls and I decided to stay here the night. We have the car all packed up with photos and overnight bags.
It was an eventful night. At around midnight, an emergency vehicle with emergency lights going drove into our drive, turned around and left, we got up thinking "this is it!". (husband) went outside, a loose horse was running down the street getting retrieved in front of our house. Flames were up again near PCT (pacific crest trail) south of Pine Canyon Road. They didn't tell us we had to leave so, we went back to bed, didn't really sleep. 6 a.m. sheriff came by to say fire is circling round (round where?). It is getting smokey again. they advised evacuation, but stated it is still voluntary. So (husband) is out in the yard doing brush maintenance work. I'm removing curtains from the windows. checking last minute things. (3 yo) is up and playing. (7 yo) and (the baby) are still asleep.
[snip]
It's a scary thing.
We'll try to keep you posted one way or another.
Pine Fire map...red indicates currently burning, orange mean burned last 12 hours, Post, Gorman, Alamos, Templin, Piru, Ranch and Dulce are all fires in 2003-2004.
The I-5 arsonist has yet to be caught I believe.
LASD is evacuating Elizabeth Lake Road and Lake Hughes Road south to Warm Springs;. West Side Mandatory, East Side Voluntary.
My friend is now out of there. The sheriff knocked on the door about 11:30 and said to get out. The fire's headed to Neenach. What are the latest acreage stats?
I haven't heard an acreage...I am listening to the air attack online now...its making a run toward a ranch.
