Nude Diners No Reason to Ban Women
Fox News ^ | Sunday, July 11, 2004 | Fox News

A country club restaurant in Shreveport must allow women in, despite the fact that fellas are known to strip down and dine there naked, the Louisiana Supreme Court has ruled.

The Southern Trace Country Club's (search) Men's Grille has been closed to the ladies because some of its male members lounge around in towels or in the buff, the Associated Press reported.

But the court said that wasn't a valid reason to bar women from entering.

Prohibiting women from a public dining area is unconstitutional, the court ruled, whether or not there's a locker-room atmosphere inside.

On top of that, wearing towels or birthday suits goes against the country club's dress code that requires "casual but appropriate attire" in dining areas, the court decided.

The club issued a statement saying they'll honor the ruling, which upholds an earlier decision by an appeals court.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Hmmm... I've never been to a restaurant quite that casual.

That'll teach those guys to write such detailed rules.

Time to change the bylaws and simply require immodest dress by all.

Dumb ruling. Apparently liberals believe your right of freedom of association begins when you drop your pants. The Louisiana Supremes ought to go the extra mile and declare separate bathrooms unconstitutional. We have a right to ogle the opposite sex, after all.

Well, it's certainly casual. ......and "appropriate" should be decided on by the owners (which they obviously already have).

They should have simply told those homosexuals in black robes to go **** themselves!

Remind them that there is a Second Amendment to protect ourselves, our country, and our freedoms from those who would suppress us.

That includes all enemies bothforeign AND DOMESTIC!

Prohibiting women from a public dining area is unconstitutional.

Only a person who feels free to distort the constitution would say so.

I don't care how hot it gets in Shreveport in the summer...the thought of club members going nekked in the country club grille is enough to stifle my appetite. That just should not be allowed. That's just wrong.

The worst enemy a person can have is family. BTW, that is a very good book, Enemies Foreign and Domestic.

Tablecloths and lobster bibs would help.

Two questions:

1) Is this a private country club?

2) What kind of women (I shan't call them 'ladies') where men -- and/or women-- were/are sitting around in their birthday suits?

(Now, granted, there are certain kinds of men who would probably enjoy that. And certain kinds of men who would enjoy others enjoying the sight of them in the buff....but that's another subject.)

IMHO, like Bill Clinton and his foolin' around, these women wanted to just b/c they can.

I agree. I'm far from a prude but naked dining is a bit much. They should still be able to have a males-only club or restaurant if they want.

I can't even understand guys who hang around naked in the locker room for long periods of time. My goal is always to get dressed and get the heck out. I sure as hell don't want to hang around naked dudes in the restaurant.
