Kerry camp on the defensive after celebrities bash Bush

Monitors showed Kerry, the presumed Democratic presidential nominee, laughing through much of the concert. Afterward, he told the audience that the performers "conveyed the heart and soul of our country." His only quibble was with Goldberg's repeated references to Edwards as "Kid." Kerry said his 51-year-old running mate, who is nine years his junior, is "a man."

Yesterday, Kerry touted his campaign's positive cast, telling a crowd at another fund-raiser, "John and I didn't run one negative ad against each other or any of our opponents all through the primaries and we haven't done a negative ad against George Bush, because we think Americans want real solutions for real problems."

The Radio City event prompted a sharp rebuke from the Bush-Cheney reelection committee, which noted that Kerry attended the concert despite saying earlier on CNN's "Larry King Live" that he had not had enough time to get an intelligence briefing. The administration warned Thursday of Al Qaeda plans to attack the United States and offered to brief Kerry. Kerry's campaign said he has scheduled the briefing for Sunday.

"It is a great example of John Kerry's priorities that on the day he said he did not have time to receive his intelligence briefing on threats to America, he found time to attend a Hollywood fund-raiser, filled with enough hate and vitriol to make Michael Moore blush," Bush-Cheney campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt said.

Later, during a conference call with reporters, Tad Devine, a top Kerry communications strategist, grew animated when asked whether the campaign would release a tape of the event, as the Bush-Cheney committee requested. Doing so might violate copyrights and licensing agreements for the entertainers who performed -- and allow the Bush campaign to use the tape in commercials against Kerry and Edwards, a campaign aide said.

"The hypocrisy of them making a call like that is almost unimaginable," said Devine, adding that Bush and Cheney restrict access to their own campaign events. (In fact, the administration's practice is to let reporters into all fund-raisers except those in private residences. While reporters were invited to the Kerry concert, they were forbidden from recording.)

His wife is 54, right?

How old are his youngest kids? Not saying anything. Just curious about modern marital and parental configurations.

Kudos to the Globe for reporting this fact. The NY Daily News failed to follow suit.

Kerry's camp also cried hypocrisy over the Cheney "f--- yourself" "flap." Sorry, Johnny. A private exchange accidentally overheard is not the same as this ugly public display. And this fundraiser, as has been noted, is what Kerry had time for after stating he didn't have time for a national security briefing.

"Kerry camp on defensive." Beautiful words. The Johns need to be kept on the defensive.

"While reporters were invited to the Kerry concert, they were forbidden from recording..."

Gives you some sense that we're probably only hearing a small percentage of what was actually said, since most reporters aren't going to reveal anything that might hurt their guy. Besides, the media share the same "values" of Kerry - potty-mouthed hatred.

I believe they had two children in the wake of their son's death in 1996. So, they're under 8.

How old are his youngest kids?

I found it. Ages 3 and 5. That makes mom 49 and 51 at age of birth. Very high-risk pregnancy age for a man who spent his life prosecuting doctors who delivered babies. Most curious.

Certainly, after we have been subjected to the graphic images of Berg, and Johnson, we won't cringe at the video of the "Hatefest" .

Some of the American people wish to see the reality of just where the Democrat Party resides, and what their made of. (like most of us don't already know)

Bring it on!

Well, we see that Mr. Kerry has soiled his britches again. It is understandable that he doesn't want to take them off to show the world; however, the noise may have been sufficiently loud and the smell so bad that he doesn't have to.

With his money, I doubt it. I would like to know the story, though. It's not your average tale, I'd bet.

Then why didn't you stay in washington, you moron. I guess terrorism isn't real.

This guy is so disconnected from any human reality. Maybe he's a robot planted by the NVA.

Every time I see these "entertainers" get together to suck up to some liberal politician, I find even more goons to disdain. Who would have thought Dave Matthews, John Mellonball, even Meryl Streep were all air heads? We knew Jessica Lange and 'Wide-load Whoopie' were raging psychotics, but old Meryl. I had thought she was smarter. Bummer! She was a favorite actress. Not any more.

It's really hard to go see a movie these days at the theater.

I guess I'll have to stay home and watch "10" again with the conservative Bo Derek! ;)

I'm sure the John/John campaign could get waivers from the 'stars" who performed. After all, they should be proud of their work on behalf of their candidate.

....and allow the Bush campaign to use the tape in commercials against Kerry and Edwards, a campaign aide said.

How could what the John/John campaign describe as "American Values" be used against them?

I would imagine they encountered a bit of difficulty finding an OB/GYN who would care for Mrs. Edwards' during her pregnancies.

I just heard yesterday that a 46 year old friend of mine is pregnant. (We each have 18 year olds who grew up together.) I understand she is facing some health problems. I wish her the best - she's braver than I am.

"Kerry...told the audience that the performers 'conveyed the heart and soul of our country.'" "He sees hate and vitriol as America's heart and soul."

"Some of the words were ones I would not have used."

Better get used to them, Teresa. You're a Democrat now.

"We think Americans want real solutions for real problems."

Well, Kerry got one thing right--"a clock that's not working etc. etc." And the solution to this real problem is to vote these worthless, soulless, decadent, immoral Democrats into early retirement.
