Newspaper exposes Saddam trial judge (Fisk strikes again)
This Is London ^ | 7.2.04 | Paul Waugh

The judge in charge of Saddam Hussein's trial was in fear for his life today after his identity was revealed by a UK newspaper.

The Iraqi Special Tribunal had asked the media to protect his anonymity. But he was named by Robert Fisk, foreign correspondent of The Independent.

Downing Street warned that the judge now faced reprisals from Saddam loyalists. A Foreign Office source added: "Obviously this shows questionable judgment about an individual's safety." When TV footage was broadcast yesterday, censors made sure the judge was pictured only from behind.

Simon Kelner, editor of The Independent, defended his decision, saying: "This was not a British court, it was an Iraqi court. We don't want to compromise the judge's safety but the cameras showed side views of him and he was instantly recognised by many Iraqis."

I hope Fisk is persona non grata in Iraq after this.

I hope these fifth columnists get what's coming to them. They've been at their worst in Iraq.

Agreed. They want nothing more than the return to power of the murdering scum that used to run the country.

Persona non grata? I don't think so. I say the traitor should be stood up against a wall and shot.

you are right - there is no justification for this, no news-worthiness, nothing. The only reason for doing so is the hope that this brave individual will be killed or intimidated in a rogue effort to try and thwart the movement toward freedom and democracy.

Oh, I understand now. This gives you the right to make the man a target. Perfectly reasonable.

A Foreign Office source added: "Obviously this shows questionable judgment about an individual's safety."

That language translated from Britishdiplomaticspeak roughly speaking means: what the ******* ***** **** **** did this **** ***** ***** of an editor ******* mean to ****** do by revealing this judge's ******* name, does he have a ******* brain inside that ****** pea-sized ****** head of his.

The Independent is designed for self-righteous prigs; it wants to be the New York Times but fails miserably even in that lowly quest.

I just hope this reporter return to Iraq and they sentence the guy to five years for what he has done. At that, he would be getting of light in my estimation.

Perhaps it would just be best if they handed him over to the people he is aiding and abetting.
