Riordan calls kid a 'stupid, dirty girl' at book event

No one ever accused Richard Riordan of being a prisoner to political correctness, but the feisty former mayor of Los Angeles and now the state's education secretary may have outdone himself last week when he called a youngster at a book event a "stupid, dirty girl." The incident took place Thursday at the Santa Barbara Central Library, where Riordan stopped in to promote a summer reading program. After reading a picture book to preschoolers and young elementary school pupils, he chatted with some of them. One girl asked whether he was aware that her name was that of an Egyptian goddess. ....... "It means stupid, dirty girl," he said.

It does not sound like he called her, personally, stupid, dirty girl, he was talking about what her name meant in Egyptian
Rhino or not, this is not reported properly.

OK I read the article it sounds like he was being flip and of course in this World that's not acceptable. He apologised immediately. They say it was a "quip" he instantly regretted. Maybe he was just being sarcastic. Big deal.

Maybe he was just being sarcastic. Big deal. Yeah maybe he was just being sarcastic when he said he wanted to round up guns door-to-door. Maybe he was being sarcastic when he called Bill Clinton the greatest leader in the free world. Maybe he was being sarcastic when he said parental consent is unconstitutional.
..... Then again maybe he's just a big RINO fool who is an embarrassment to all things Republican.

Wrongo. Flip remarks to small school aged children are not proper and can leave scars. What was he thinking? Would our current First Lady get lib with children?
He has a lot of apologizing to do. If it was my daughter Riordan would have other problems to deal with.

If some parents are going to teach their kids that they are goddesses, maybe it isn't a bad thing to have somebody tell them they are stupid, dirty children from time to time. After all, the latter statement is a lot more true than the former.
