Dear Dave: The draft ain't gonna happen. You can, however, go enlist. May I suggest your local Marine recruiter. Ask for the infantry- code it UH on your contract. Then, in about 1 year come visit us here on FR. You'll be a changed man. Your sanctimony and self righteousness and ability to swallow liberal twaddle will disappear to be replaced with self discipline, pride and deeper understanding of this country's greatness. Do it for your country and for yourself. You'll not regret it.

And he'll really, really, really oppose a draft.

I did enlist. I served proudly in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1967 to 1970. My MOS was 11C2P, Indirect Fire Crewman (81mm Mortar Gunner).

I'm certainly liberal on social matters, and very conservative on economic matters (straight but not narrow). Some people call it Libertarian. I also believe in equality of the sexes, and believe that equal rights require equal responsibilities.

I strongly support our military, believe it is stretched to the limit, and certainly do not believe that any politician will admit that the draft will be re-instituted after the election.
