So just who is targeting whom?

Are they vicious foreign terrorists, scheming to blow up New York?

Or just a couple of wide-eyed visitors from abroad, snapping sentimental photos of the Statue of Liberty and other tourist cliches?

The issue came up again yesterday, as U.S. officials announced they'd expelled two Iranian security guards. These two gentlemen, unnamed, were working on Third Avenue at the Iranian Mission to the United Nations. They are now back in Tehran.

U.S. envoy Stuart Holliday, speaking to the reporters at the UN, picks up the story there: "These individuals were moving around New York City and essentially taking photographs of a variety of New York landmarks and infrastructure and the rest."

Just like terror bombers!

Just like tourists!

It's just lucky that these guys weren't taking pictures of airplanes.

These guys were reportedly taking pictures of things like subway tunnels. Not exactly landmarks for the scrapbook.

So, I'm still waiting, what is the problem? That we sent two Iranian guards that work for terrorist central (the U.N.) back home?

Iranian officials scoffed at the U.S. insinuation about the guards.

Yep, I know what you mean - kinda like stealing airliners and flying them into public buildings. Really far fetched.

All of which had me reaching out for help yesterday, help from the writer David Harris, who told me I should probably just relax.

David Harris was a big anti-Vietnam War protestor -- he was married to Joan Baez and went to prison for avoiding the draft. The idea that he's a voice of reason here is ludicrous.
