"Nah. Yall are welcome to pack up and move to Texas though.'

LOL I've been packing for TWO weeks trying to LEAVE Texas! Not that I don't love it here.....just too many damn people!

My preference would be to go to another planet.

I think that the last time that SC tried this it led to a bloodbath. I hope that they aren't so stupid as to try it again.

"I don't like the idea of splitting the nation up, but I'm interested in hearing what other freepers think of this."

I think it's ridiculous at this juncture in America. The fools are doing EXACTLY what Al Quieda/Taliban/The Mid East/Islam, America's enemies in general wants to happen in and among America ie., "divide and conquer"

Too many foolish radical fringe groups in America nawing away at all the good qualities about America. Chaos and dissention are tools of the enemy within. Don't fall for it.

After the election I expect the left to do the same thing. Converge on a state and either leave the union or do something else.

If you would consider our American democracy equivalent to an autocratic British monarchy, you would classify Marion with people who rebelled against American democracy. I don't see an equivalence there, and if you consider yourself a patriotic American, I hope that you wouldn't either.

How much say did South Carolina have in Parliament or the election of an executive in 1776?

Personally, I think the idea.....at this point, is far-fledged. I would not join.

But, what if the conservative cause becomes hopelessly lost in the USA? Will we just give in or be proactive and do something like this?

I would take the latter, or a "Freeper island" type of idea over staying in a country in which I have no hope of keeping my liberties alive.

But....we are a long way from that point, IMO.

I do not believe it would lead to a bloody revolution the second time around; I think they would basically let us go so they would not have to worry about those pesky conservatives anymore.

God, they sure seem to be trying with my state.

It was in the high 70s and breezy today. I sat out on the Esplanade with a good book. I know where I'm making my stand, and unlike many people who I respect, it won't be in New Hampshire.

I disagree. It is not retreating to try to shine a light on a godly community to the rest of the world.

Perhaps setting an example would make a bigger impact than the so-far fruitless attempts at just plain evangelism.

Yeah but some of the wealthiest(Alec Baldwin et al) threatened to leave America the last time Bush was elected and they were merely bluffing. The dilletante hypocrites know very well where their bread gets buttered baby, right here in the good ole USA by us hard working and purchasing patrons.

But but but, how would the democratic control get the money to pay for their food stamps, welfare programs, all around *Life is one big free lunch* programs for their unwashed masses?
You can bet your booty they'd be glad to see us go but still insist on taxing us just like the English empire tried to do with the colonies way back when.

The thing is, seeing this through may take awhile. The last time we got into a big fight with the Muslims it took centuries to resolve. It wasn't until we defeated them at the gates of Vienna in the early seventeenth century that they were knocked back, and they were still harassing us in the early nineteenth century! Islam is like a hydra, and I am not counting on it being pounded into submission anytime soon.

It may surprise some to know that the movement is endorsed by Dr. James Kennedy and by Tim LaHaye of the Left Behind Series. The movement is in its infancy and could get much bigger; particularly if gay marriage becomes the law of the land.

I 've served this country in uniform for 32 years and I'm no traitor. Very few people love and honor America more than Southern evangelicals. No other section of the country is as well represented in the military or among Medal-of-Honor winners as the South. However, as Ronald Reagan said of the Democrat Party "they left me, not the other way around". I detest what America is becoming. I will seriously consider joining the exodus.

Yeah, although I commented earlier on how it will not really fly unless something big happens like a huge collapse of the economy, an atomic war, civil war, or fill in the blank style catastrophe, if things consider going the way they are, I would cosdier pitching in myself. I keep thinking back to the 1970's when my father said that "when you are grown up, America will not be and survive as the entity as we know it." Heck, I talked ot my father not too long ago and he said the same thing he did 25 or 30 years ago. I hope it doesn't happen and pray that it does not happen but I think we are going through a period of really bad times here with the Islamo-Fascists on one hand and the rabid, liberal PC crowd that wants to legalize things like homosexual marrige, hamstring our defense, and generally go after anything that is Judeo-Christian. I see this as a possible breaking point. If you came to me in 1984, I would have said that it qould have been an atomic war with the Soviets that would have reshuffled the deck. Now I would put it on the division between those of us in the "corn belt" vs the "porn belt." Personally, I'd like to take the loony leftists, send them to Puerto Rico, and cut them loose and let us take the United States proper and intact. Heck, if we want to keep PR, maybe Uganda would do for a liberal homeland.

I guess it would be traitorous if somebody wants to break off and start up a government based on despotism or a monarchy, but I can't really see it that way if the goal is to restore America to the old values of the Constitution and our Judeo-Christian heritage or a reasonable fascimile thereof.

The US will start to break up in 25 to 50 years. I applaud these folks for getting an early start.

Interesting that you say this because I've told my wife that I believe the next civil war will not be between North and South but, because of the growing immigration issue, it will pit East against West.
