Ex-CIA Official Looks for French, Russian Deals with Hussein

Former CIA officer Duane Clarridge has maintained that economic interests were the real reasons France and Russia those countries opposed the invasion of Iraq. "I think the world needs to know why some countries didn’t want Saddam Hussein removed from power.”

Now the officer, infamous for his role in the Reagan administration’s secret war in Nicaragua, is out to prove his charges – with his own investigation of the financial dealings, according to a report in the LA Times.

Clarridge has been on the ground in Iraq scouting for evidence that French politicians took secret payoffs from Hussein in the 1980s; that Russia received illegal Iraqi oil transshipped through Iran; and that major international companies -- as well as foreign governments -- aided Hussein’s mission to develop weapons of mass destruction.

"It will be a huge bombshell if we can pull it off,” Clarridge said. "I think the White House will be delighted.”

Despite his history, Clarridge retains extensive contacts in Washington, having twice been named to special task forces set up by the Defense Science Board, which advises Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. He has arranged to keep U.S. intelligence agencies briefed on what he uncovers.

Clarridge, the former chief of the CIA’s Latin America division in 1981, when President Reagan began stepping up U.S. involvement in the region, believes the modern CIA has grown too cautious:

"An intelligence agency has to take risks, and it’s going to get into a little — and sometimes a lot — of trouble.”

Watch out for retitrd Arkansas state troopers, they might mean trouble!!!

Saddam's oil vouchers will lead to much more current pay offs to the French and Russians and to Annan's familiy, as well.

Where they will also lead is to Willie and PanderAl Gore. The completely irrational and shrill claims of the dem faithful that there is not not nor has there ever been any connection between Saddam and Osama can only be explained by one circumstance, they want to keep all investigators away from a thing they swear is already absolute.

The dems will lie about everything so the faithful (if you didn't see the dem House members ranting about "no connection," something they clearly couldn't know to be factual, you missed a classic display of crapweaseliness) may not know. Clearly, this trail leads to Willie and Al taking Saddam's (maybe, through Mark Rick) cash to protect Osama!!

This is why US is recruiting former Bathist, to get the proof. Who better to know than the people who signed the contracts? France, Germany and Russia are going to shown for who they really are in a short time. The UN is already facing the American wrath. They should have done their job when they had the chance!

According to a long-forgotten NYT article, the Frogs and Ruskies were plotting with S.H. to reconfigure the oil business on the petro-euro, rather than the petro-dollar.

Obviously this would have lead to a massive earthquake in geopolitics and no American administration could permit it.

Thus the take-down. Hopefully, this story can come out and illustrate the will of the U.S. and Bush, as well as the duplicity and weakness of Kerry.

EVERYBODY. It is called REALPOLITICS. There is such thing as national interest (however perceived), and people generally do whatever they think they might get away with. And since it has been going on for as long as known history, you are right: it's about damn time for you to understand it.

And .. it turns out those who have yelled the loudest about America being so materialistic .. are themselves even moreso, lusting after money and power.

Clarridge has been on the ground in Iraq scouting for evidence .....

So what? An American was killed scouting for telecom contracts.

What gives this guy as a private citizen the ability to find anything worthwhile that officials can't find?
