June 25, 2004 -- WASHINGTON Israeli bullets that the Army bought to plug a shortfall should be used only for training and not to fight Muslim guerrillas in Iraq and Afghanistan, lawmakers said yesterday. "By no means, under any circumstances, should a round from Israel be utilized" since the Army has stockpiled ammunition, said Rep. Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii, the top Democrat on a House Armed Services subcommittee.

I think it's wise to keep Iraq and Israel as separate as possible. We are having a hard enough time there as it is.
Would they be less offended if our bullets were dipped in pig blood?
Can anyone explain to me how Neil Abercrombie, of all people, gets ink on this issue?
Are their shell casings marked with Israeli markings? If not, how would they ever know?
I believe IMI (Israeli Military Industries) is printed on the headstamp. Reading bullet casings in Iraq should at least be grounds for questioning, IMHO.
Okay. Then let's have our own manufacturers put the Star of David on every casing and jacket.
I figured it was stamped somewhere. Isn't it a shame we have to be so PC about everything?
"Then let's have our own manufacturers put the Star of David on every casing and jacket."
Yes, and then dip them in pig grease (pork fat rules!) and then say, nah, we're not shooting you anymore, and saw their gosh darned heads off.
Nothing new. The US also threw out Israeli blood donated after 9/11, if I remember right.
Nah, if they were made in Israel, I'm pretty sure they'd be kosher. They should prefer the no-pork approach. </weak attempt at humor>
absolute insanity
Pay attention, folks - here is the REAL issue:
Why does the Army have a shortfall of bullets ???
Israeli bullets will kill a person in a different way than, say, Chinese bullets. And not in a politically-correct way, either. The Israeli bullets will have different thoughts and motives than other bullets have.
Just like SUVs will crash into another car differently than a truck or pick-up....with devious intent and in a more malicious and politically-incorrect way.

Indeed, one thing that shot guys spend lots of time worrying over is who manufactured the projectile. So if you really want to taunt the Islamist you guide toward the gates of Hell, tell him as he falls, "Oh, by the way, that bullet came from Israel, heh, heh."
I have to go find a concrete wall to bang my head against...the fact that something like this is even treated as a serious issue in a Senate committee....
Can anyone tell me why this story ought to be believed.

DRUDGE - STATE DEPT MEMO: DEATH OF US SAILORS DOES NOT COMPARE TO PALESTINIAN TOLL
The United States State Department believes the "17 or so dead sailors" on the U.S.S. Cole "does not compare to the 100+ Palestinians who have died in recent weeks" in Mideast violence, a stunning government memo reveals.
MORE
The Clinton/Gore Administration disapproved a VOICE OF AMERICA broadcast condemning the attack on the Cole. A memo from the Executive Secretariat Staff at the State Department stated: "The Department of State does not clear on the referenced VOA editorial.
"This editorial will reach an audience that is caught up in the violence in Israel and the Occupied Territories. The 17 or so dead sailors does not compare to the 100+ Palestinians who have died in recent weeks where we have remained silent. The people that hear this will not see the separation we are trying to make and relate it directly to the violence.
"Either VOA adds something in there to take the edge off and mention the Palestinians or we should kill this editorial until the violence has calmed for a while."
