Guard Injured As Bomb Explodes in Ankara

ASSOCIATED PRESS

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) - A small bomb exploded Thursday in front of the hotel where President Bush is expected to stay when he visits Ankara this weekend, a security official said. One police officer lost his leg in the blast.

The injured police officer was standing near the bomb when it went off in the street, the security officer said, speaking on customary condition of anonymity.

Several ambulances were seen rushing to the scene.

Militant Islamic, Kurdish and leftist groups have carried out past attacks in Turkey.

Going on an announced trip to Turkey doesn't sound like a good idea.

All this terrorist activity brings to mind the opening scene from Terry Gilliam's movie "Brazil":

INTERVIEWER
Deputy minister, what do you believe
is behind this recent increase in
terrorist bombings?

HELPMANN
Bad sportsmanship. A ruthless
minority of people seems to have
forgotten certain good old fashioned
virtues. They just can't stand seeing
the other fellow win.

I live about 6 hours south of Ankara in a town called Adana (well, not for long, as I am getting stationed at Moody AFB, Georgia in a few weeks). You should see all the anti-Bush, anti-Blair posters that have been stuck all over town.

Militant Islamic, Kurdish and leftist groups have carried out past attacks in Turkey.

First, Kurdish groups have never carried out any attacks against Americans. Second, the islamic and leftist groups are Turkish and are conveniently ignored and their crimes covered up while a few show trials are put on for the sake of international convenience. It is important ot remember that many Islamic groups have already been infiltrated by Communists.

Muslim Turks are not to be trusted as Israel is learning all too well recently. Who supports the Chechnyan terrorists? The Muslim Turkish government.

Responsibility has been claimed by the illegal MLKP-FESK organization.

The acronyms translate as "Marxist Leninist Communist Party - Armed Forces of the Poor and Opressed."

Cold war junk.

Mohameddanism is not a religion...it is an ideological cult...created by the pedophile Mohamed to work out his demons.

Wake up Turk!

That's too bad. I'm sorry to hear that.

Have you enjoyed Turkey? We're not far from Georgia (about an hour). Have a safe trip home.
