No offense intended, but I didn't know the term wasn't used any more. I thought it referred to some characteristics in the eye folds (among other physical characteristics) in those afflicted with Down's syndrome. As a kid I remember that term, not as a slur, but as the name more common than Down's syndrome.

Was I mistaken?

I hate to barge in with your little rants, but with all due respect it's NOT 50 years out of date and as to offensive, well only since political correctness invaded EVERYTHING in the 90's and now everything is OFFENSIVE to someone.

Mongoloid is also one of the three racial classifications that make up the human species (probably not politically correct anymore). The other two classifications were Caucasoid and Negroid. Encyclopedias had lengthy articles on these terms before pervasive ignorance came into vogue.
